Journalists Wandering Eyes Posted July 16, 2022 Journalists Share Posted July 16, 2022 Sent off at odds of 8-1 in a competitive-looking renewal of the GIII Sanford S. at Saratoga, Nasser Bin Omalrah's Mo Strike (c, 2, Uncle Mo–Featherbed, by Smart Strike) came away late to score by three lengths to give trainer Brad Cox his first victory in the event. Away without incident from gate six, the $90,000 Fasig-Tipton July yearling turned $325,000 OBS April breezer (:10 flat) raced snugly between pacesetting Curly Jack (Good Magic) and 'TDN Rising Star' Andiamo A Firenze (Speightstown), with little between them rounding the turn. Curly Jack was first to call it a day, leaving Mo Strike and Andiamo A Firenze to decide it, and the former kicked on with good energy in the final eighth of a mile to score decisively. New Jersey-bred Great Navigator (Sea Wizard) came close to brushing the rail at the entrance to the stretch, was pulled out at midstretch and outfinished a conservatively ridden Andiamo A Firenze for second. Mo Strike becomes the 83rd stakes winner and 45th graded winner for Uncle Mo, who earned 'Rising Star' honors of his own with a smashing 14 1/4-length debut success at the Spa in August 2010. Sales history: $90,000 Ylg '21 FTKJUL; $325,000 2yo '22 OBSAPR. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0. O-Nasser Bin Omalrah; B-Blue Heaven Farm & Ashford Stud (KY); T-Brad Cox.
