Doomed
An unusual amount of scratchings today I thought on a Soft 7. Looked more like a NI meeting where they scratch at the drop of a hat. Hardly ever any scratchings out of the field in the south. I switched on to watch Pam's stayer. Starting to remind me a bit of Azawary. Lucky she isn't a trotting trainer, people would think she is trying to milk the place stakes, doing a good job of it to.
Freda
I'll live happily with that if the Sydney Cup is at the end of it!
Freda
I think the posted H 9 might have had a bit to do with scratchings, however I have no idea where that came from, the track was very nice considering the rain we've had. Would have suited most.

Maidens went 1.13 so obviously not too bad as the day went on. I watched a couple of races and the track seemed to play quite fairly, which is lucky of course as I imagine Ashburton will get a lot of use going forward with Riccarton's problems. Freda
Yes, that is a worry. A wee bit of foresight and both Rangiora and Motukarara could have been retained to offload to. Ashburton is trying hard, they have a new and very competent track man and he seems to be doing a good job. But, with no actual gallop grass other than the course proper, there isn't much scope for too much hammering.
