The Grinner?

Newmarket

Recommended Posts

Just watched the first jumps race, didn’t have a bet but thought The Grinner would go well.

Now I am no expert in jumps racing, but it seemed to be crowded most of the race, horse didn’t seem happy racing with others.
Long way off turning for home, but made ground well for 3rd?

What do others think, could jockey have ridden differently? Not having a go here, just asking the question.

The figure-eight course is run around the inner portion of the track, with ground that is noticeably firmer than the course proper and particularly the home straight.

Possibly The Grinner was outpaced on the better going but found itself able to take closer order on the heavier stuff ?    Just a thought.

Yep, you may be right. Although it did make good ground last bit, you would think that would be just as wet

I skimmed over the Stipe's Report last night and I think it was this horse that put in a rough jump at the 800m on the first round which can take the stuffing out of any horse, and I think that was where Emily dropped her whip.  You might just need to confirm those details relate to this horse.
