Agreed - While im critical of GRNZ failure to lead and make changes, leaving alot of the critical changes needed to the past year, to say the industry is harmful to animals is complete lies. Truth is Greyhound racing in NZ is now one of the safest industries for animals in the country. If you wanted to ban Greyhound racing on the basis of it not being safe, where do you draw the line? Ban 1080 for hurting wildlife and possums? Ban rat & mice poison/traps? Ban Cattle because they are all slaughtered? Ban thouroubreds and Harness because they have higher injury rates? Ban the SPCA because they put down 1000s, probably 10s of 1000 of animals per year as do Animal Shelters? Ban Pets as many are harmed daily and alot are abandoned/not managed well? Wouldnt need so many vets if pet owners were more responsible right... The list goes on. You cant use the argument that dogs are a comodity either because so are cattle and dairy cattle too. So are farm dogs. Should we ban farm dogs if animals shouldnt be used to make money... what about bees. They slave away from birth to death making honey for us 🤣 -
A 3 horse field off 4 acceptors in a 2yo race in NP. A 5 horse field at Otaki I. 2yos & SI gets next to nothing. -
I see Just Holla in race 5 at Nelson today is into $3.40 fixed to win! I acknowledge it is trained by Ken Baron and Blair is in the cart and in an 8 horse race but surely $3.40 is too short? It has not gone a decent race for ages as the run on the second day at Westport didnt seem that good as they only went a 2.11 mile rate and last half in over 66. Even a trial run before the Coast circuit was not great either. There are several picking it to win but I do not know why really and do not believe it warrants being so short even with Blair giving it every chance! Anyway maybe Brodie is missing something as there appears to be winning chances in that field at better odds! -
Two of the three southern 2yo starters at Ellerslie and Trentham so far this season have come from Southland. Southland has ONE 2yo race all season, in April. Do you think someone is missing something there? -
A few have had jumpouts at Rangiora too and maybe the same further south.
