  1. Really? Who feeds you this stuff? How many horses are required each year for owners to buy to race to enable ENTAIN to make a profit? Asking for a friend.
  2. They've been doing it for years. One of my bug bears. I can't remember the last time I bet on the tote. Got sick of seeing the price change 600m into the race! There is no excuse for not having real time price updates.
  3. Mmm. Thanks for that. That's a lot of dosh. TABNZ have limited revenue earning options....pokies? @curious is across that more than I am.
  4. Where did you see that? One of my biggest gripes is Dean McKenzie did a smoke and mirrors trick with marketing. Moved it off TABNZ's balance sheet and onto each of the codes.
  5. When I did my MBA we had an assignment. The assignment was to assess a number of annual reports applying a number of tests and to predict which would fail and which would succeed. We didn't know at the time that the names were false names for real companies that were traded on the NZX before and after the 87 crash. There were about 6 tests - each with a different weighting. I'll list three: A complicated company structure with lots of inter-company lending (Du Val - 70 companies); A high proportion of Assets as intangible assets such as Goodwill/licenses etc. (ENTAIN NZ); High number of executive share rights with rights to convert to cash and/or more shares; .....
  6. There is a discussion on it elsewhere on BOAY. In my opinion the intangibles are over-valued and are essentially the premium on the NZ lisence they have. Essentially just a Government promise. A number of financial analysts are saying that ENTAIN is a buy at the moment i.e. the share price has probably bottomed. I would only throw at it what I would throw at buying a racehorse. Assuming I had the spare cash anyway!
  7. Australia could be under regulatory pressure. There are murumurings within the current Government about gambling restrictions. Yes and have you seen what ENTAIN have valued their intangible assets at in NZ?
  8. Bit strange he isn't getting more rides. Was a top apprentice in OZ. Listening to him talk on TV I liked his straight talking. Might be a bit much for some Trainers!
  9. Well it can't have been ENTAIN holding things up @curious ! Still no updated Futures for the Guineas.
  10. I agree regarding the stakes. However I got fooled once before. Remember Winnies million dollar races!! An unsustainable sugar hit.
  11. Have you seen anything done in the last 5 years to turn it around?
  12. 84 Nominations for the 2000 Guineas give or take.
  13. 107 nominations for the 1000 Guineas give or take.
  14. Best known but no substance. Which will become even more apparent as the Statutory Receiver works through the process. High Flyers with lots of marketing hype but little rubber on the road. A classic corporate ponzi scheme with over 70 interrelated companies all lending each other virtual money. As for the Chinese. Having had experience with a large construction company in Chongqinq I've always felt that their involvement in NZ construction would be thwart primarily for the main reason that stuffs up NZ Firms. Over regulation and compliance costs. Add to that unions!
  15. Everytime someone posts the name Pollyanna I think they are referring to the AWT's.
  16. Perhaps they are waiting for the nomination payment cheques to clear?
  17. Or maybe they are giving ENTAIN time to raise the cash to pay back the "pre-nom" bets? I see you can still get "pre-nom" bets even though noms closed two days ago!
  18. Perhaps there weren't any nominations and they are ringing round? Or have quietly reopened them because they are moving Cup Week to Auckland?
  19. Compared to the industry leaders who are releasing no frills media statements clearly stating the stark reality but more importantly with clear actions and a strategy for the future. Meanwhile we are still supposedly implementing the Mess-ara report or closer to the truth doing the same old same old.
  20. The Programming Committee based at Riccarton seems to be utilising Chaos Theory The fields don't look great for today's AWT meeting. Even @Pitman only has one in.
  21. Three years later what has changed?
