What the Fuck are you on about? Or more importantly what the hell are you smoking? All Rangitara is asking for is the % deduction and the time and price of the scratched horse to be published. I assume the preference would be on the TAB website. Perhaps they could add a couple of extra numbers to the (L) beside the scratching. Whiplash (L) (15%, $3.50, 4:35pm).
-
Less the % deduction calculated on the scratched horse's price at the time of the scratching. BTW those that backed the late scratching get ALL their bet back.
-
Ok one last attempt! Sigh! The % deduction doesn't change unless of course if there is another late scratching. But let's try and keep it simple for you. The scratched horse's price at the time of its scratching is the price used to calculate the % deduction that is applied to all remaining live bets taken prior to the scratching.
-
How frigging complex is it to get/notify the price of the scratched horse at the time it was scratched? That price doesn't change once the horse is scratched.
-
Both Rangatira and I know that. Rangatira can deduct the % from his bet. What Rangatira doesn't know is the price of the horse that was scratched at the time it was scratched. He is saying the TAB should notify that price along with the % and scratching time.

Still alive?

Ok let's do this slowly. Rangi has a ticket on horse 5 at odds that will return $100. Horse 6 is late scratched. The price of Horse SIX at the time of scratching determines the % deduction. Obviously a greater % the more favoured the scratched runner was. Rangi's ticket can't tell him what Horse 6's price was at any stage because he has bet on horse 5. He can deduct the % from his return. The TAB notifies (barely) the deduction % and the scratching time. They don't notify the scratched horses price. The book is adjusted and bets taken AFTER the scratching time won't be subject to deductions. Unless of course if there is another scratching.

No Whiplash you have got it fucked up.

Whiplash - how is the % deduction calculated?
-
FFS Whiplash go back and read the formula example. No need Rangitara just did it for you. But to put it simply - the % deduction is calculated using the SCRATCHED horse's price at the time of the scratching!
-
The point he is making is you can't apply the formula because you don't have all the information e.g. the price at the time of scratching.
-
It isn't FIXED as such because it is subject to late scratching deductions. Any winning bet will have a % subtracted from the return. So your $3 becomes $2.70.

In my opinion the RIU are running diversion to justify INCA.

Why does Opee Bosson feel the need to CHEAT?

Then gets beaten by someone else who bends the rules? Yeah right. Change the penalties if you want Jockey's to stay within the rules. Hell I drive 110 to 120 km on the open road. When I clock a fine and some demerits I show a bit more restraint. -
No it isn't obvious. You are reading through a conceptual lense primed by your knowledge of the racing industry and presumably common veterinarian practice. Your average uninformed reader wouldn't understand that. You say "Good work by the RIU". Can you explain their inconsistency across and within codes in publicising this information? Why can they release information to the media and not bother to update their website with the information first? Or it seems even notify HRNZ!? Piss poor work in my opinion. Who rang who first? The Journalist or the RIU?

Will the RIU or HRNZ (Woodham) get a correction to this article? Tubing is NOT an illegal practice. It is a common veterinarian technique for the application of therapeutic substances! There have been many a horses life saved by tubing!

Another "Press Release" by the RIU and another re-hash of old news. Harness racing trainer charged after he was caught injecting horses Sam Sherwood09:41, Mar 17 2021 JOE JOHNSON/STUFF Jesse Alford was suspended last month after Racing Integrity Unit investigators caught him administering a substance to two horses. (File photo) A Canterbury harness racing trainer caught injecting a substance into two horses has been charged by the Racing Integrity Unit (RIU). Jesse Alford was suspended last month after RIU investigators caught him administering a substance to two horses at his stables in Woodend Beach, two hours before they were due to take the track. Do you know more? Email sam.sherwood@stuff.co.nz It was understood investigators also saw Alford trying to tube one of the horses, and that his partner, who did not have a training licence, was seen helping him by holding the horses. Tubing is the illegal practice of inserting a rubber or plastic tube through a horse’s nose into its oesophagus, usually to administer sodium bicarbonate, which is said to improve the animal's stamina. RIU general manager Mike Godber confirmed on Wednesday that Alford was facing three charges alleging breaches of harness racing rules. The charges were two counts of administering a prohibited substance on race day and attempting to administer a prohibited substance on race day. His partner also faced two charges of administering a banned substance on race day. Godber declined to comment further as the matter was with the Judicial Control Authority. When earlier approached by Stuff, Alford, who has had eight wins in 39 starts since the start of the 2020 season, said he “wasn’t doping”. Three horses were scratched from racing at Addington Raceway the day Alford’s stables were raided. They had since been transferred to fellow Woodend Beach trainer Cameron Jones. Jones did not respond to requests for comment. JOHN HAWKINS/STUFF Harness racing trainer Mitchell Kerr with Bettor Pay Me at Makarewa in 2014. The incident came as police launched an investigation into allegations star harness racing trainer Mitchell Kerr defrauded people in the industry for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Stuffpreviously revealed the RIU was investigating claims that Kerr over-syndicated horses and charged for non-existent insurance policies. Kerr was said to have cheated an All Black, a Black Cap and several wealthy businessmen in his scam, and was thought to have lost nearly $1 million through an Australian betting agency. The RIU’s manager of integrity assurance, Neil Grimstone, confirmed last week the allegations had been referred to police. Kerr handed in his training and harness driving licence to Harness Racing New Zealand in November, citing “mental health” as the reason for the break. The now 29-year-old star had 87 wins to his credit by that time, and had won nearly $900,000 in stake money in his three-year solo training career.

It isn't the cause it is a symptom. However I've given up trying to convince you otherwise. Apparently a bunch of farmers and their tractors will fix it. The fact is no major track renovation has occurred in 25 years. Compare that to what has been done to the major metropolitan tracks in OZ and you get the answer. -
