I think you missed my point. I'm not denying all those factors can and do make a difference to a horse's performance but, as a punter, how do you know the extent of the difference when assessing a horse's chance before a race? The answer is that you don't.

That certainly raises the question that many have posed on here in the past. As a punter how can you quantify the improvement that might occur on the application of blinkers? Answer seems to be that you can't. Therefore it's pretty useless as a factor to consider when assessing a horse's chance.

I doubt it's anything like that. More likely they had published Races 1 to 9 on the website and it would've created a bit of chaos to insert a new race and change the whole order of racing. Your last sentence is pretty ridiculous.

I haven't got a frigging clue why the horses weren't mentioned by name in the stipes report but it's quite clear from this that they were the two horses affected. “We had the report from Sam Weatherley following race one regarding his horse moving around the final bend. An inspection was carried out following that race and all parties were happy to continue on,” stipendiary steward Brady Jones said. “Prior to race three we had a brief shower of rain and we had reports from Joe Doyle and Warren Kennedy that both of their horses had moved rounding that final bend, probably from the 500m right through to the 400m, and they felt their mounts were shifting. “We conducted a further inspection following that and found little pieces of movement, nothing glaringly obvious. The riders went back and had a meeting amongst themselves, and they reported to stewards that they didn’t have the confidence in the track to ride competitively on it, so the meeting has been abandoned.”

Did I say he was? The horses were also mentioned by name in an article on Trackside.co.nz by Joshua Smith. I have no idea of the veracity of it but someone must have picked it up from somewhere as I also heard it on Trackside. Maybe you should email the powers that be and ask for an explanation instead of complaining on here.

It's mentioned in the article by Guerin that 2 horses slipped. The quote below is from a LoveRacing article. "Jockey Sam Weatherley reported his mount, Ess Vee Are, had slipped prior to entering the straight before going on to win the opening race of the card, while Joe Doyle and Warren Kennedy reported that their horses, Oppenheimer and Sabrina Hall, had also slipped in race three, resulting in a decision to abandon the meeting."
