LOL..."trade-in" a Gavelhouse purchase? At least with a share in a syndicate the rehoming costs are built in!
Why?

Good to see you have come out of the dark side! NZ Racing must be on the up with you finally on board. I gather you have a share in a fine animal.
No way ! I sit on the sidelines & make comment, it's the Kiwi way!

So you stated a fact but what does it have to do with the Topic? Or anything for that matter. The reality is Te Akau as an entity don't actually very many horses at all. Their horses aren't leased they are owned by syndicate members. Just like Fortuna. Now there are others who Lease horses and don't actually put any dosh up front.
Can't you just enjoy the spoils of this incredible achievement by this stable like the rest of us CS?
I'm not sure if you're having a go at my favourite stable or not for their amazing success here , but if you are please cut it out! They deserve the plaudits for this , please respect that.

Strange headline on the Loveracing site.
I understood Te Akau to be a syndicating entity - with the horses they race sporting the colors of that syndicating entity & being trained by trainers appointed by the entity. Te Akau is not a trainer. So I'm confused as to how they can win a trainers' premiership.

Amazing achievement!!

Playing numbers in Wellington have plummeted on what they were say 30 years ago. What were once large clubs are now a fraction of that size yet amazingly; I see that Wellington have won The NPC twice in the last three years. So what does that say about the remainder of the NPC teams.
You think the players come from Wellington clubs?

Lots of people will be watching on TV don't worry

Right so I need to choose 1 of his 3 but then I get the Trifecta? Do I box the three?
Are you in the same rest home as @TAB For Ever ?
Box all 3 & back all 3 & you're a winner , you're of course already considered a winner to me!

Uh?! 11 horses and all with form. A very very even field. Good luck finding the winner!
Patterson trifecta , one of the three of his runners, thank me later.

Rather small field for the Cup and a few other races also.

sigh, he simple deserves serious respect for the effort needed to just be able to turn up on any race day! nothing to do with TA. At least he gets well rewarded for his talent and effort! many risk life and limb for a lot less, then for that the effort they put in! they then get to suffer later in life for the tragic eating styles that the need to be a jockey does to them!
Absolutely agree !

Name these deserving people, we can work on getting them nominated next year !
That would never happen and if you had a clue you'd know who they are!

There you go you just did what you said you weren't doing.
It bloody well is achievement and I bet all the award recipients have done more in racing already than you have. One who stands anonymously in judgement.
Sure they've achieved something, they've been given an award for it. You and TAB can revel in that as an achievement.
Way more deserving persons in this industry doing it without the red carpet.

I'm sure he has got that well covered as he will be aiming to ride regularly at 56kg.
So hardly "stringent licensing terms for his license" as they apply to all.
Next...
Good to have him back , another reason for Chief TA cheer squad to get excited!
Maybe you will put your hand in your pocket and buy a horse now?

I didn't say I was an authority but hell I'm not one of the people diminishing his achievements.
You chose one aspect of what I said which may or may not have been an embellishment when congratulating him on his achievement.
I'm surprised you haven't come to the defence of any of the female award recipients who have been rubbished by @Huey.
No one is diminishing anyone , but there is a real theme to these awards and it isn't achievement.

I doubt you been laughing for a year...you come across as too miserable for that ...but when these excellence awards began last year you labelled them laughable/jokes .
At least you consistent and your bitterness permanent !
When Chief eventually asked you if you liked anything at all about NZ racing you replied ....yes , The Cossack.
i don't think the poor horse has won since !
Is there anything else you like about NZ Racing .
Any other priceless quotes to remember you by ?
Good Morning TAB4ever , wonderful to have some delusional race goer like yourself all over this!
I feel for the winners , how can they take themselves seriously?

Haha. I guess I asked the wrong question on this forum then.
I think I said it would be hard to head him off in his category and he represents the industry well. How does that say Sam is undeserving of the award?
I'm all for promoting young people in the industry, there's no growth without them.
I can see where others are coming from though when more than a few of the winners are employed by NZTR or sponsors of the event.
The womans winner in particular is absolute laughable!

Now you are only diminishing the achievements of an up and coming young Trainer. Partnered with a master in Mark Walker.
I've been fortunate to meet Sam a few times over a period of time and he is growing quickly in all aspects of being a Public Trainer.
I recall turning up at 5:30 in the morning to watch Trackwork and him telling me I was late and had missed half the work!!!
Yes there are other up and coming young trainers and some good ones who will be recognised in their own time. After meeting a few of them it saddens me often when I see GOM's diminishing their efforts either directly or indirectly.
We should embrace the fact that NZ still has a lot of dedicated young talent and Te Akau as much as any stable enabled that.
Put anyone of the young trainers in the top 50 probably more in the TA machine and they also win this prize. Lovely boy no argument for me there and wish him the best , but lets not distort reality here he is jumping a fence off a trampoline when most others are trying to jump out of a 10m deep hole!

I hear what you are saying. You start getting biased because of allegiances or being influenced by the weight of what is posted from one type of opinion.
@curious sticks to the numbers.
Why ? When they are always under the odds.

Does there come a point in volume of retirements/comebacks when you can't announce a retirement or a comeback anymore?
I mean whats the limit 1 , 2 , 3 , 5, 7 perhaps 19???

No he hasn't been "a trainer for 5 minutes". Was training horses since his grandad Herb showed him a horse.
Aiden O'Brien said he was the best young horseman he'd had at Ballydoyle.
Your claim to fame?
Their claim to fame is they ended up in the TA machine , can't wait to see how they get on outside of it.

Sam Bergerson still gets up at 3:30am each morning to train horses and often still there until the early evening.
Wow so does just about everyone else, been a trainer for 5 minutes .

Why are the costs built in with a syndicate horse?
