Looking at this again, the problem has really come about because most of the horses around the R70 grade are in Southland this weekend. Perhaps TLZ & Jumal should have gone there if they really wanted to start this weekend and leave the their Addington race as a up to 60 rating.

Some of this latest discussion may have been prompted by The Laz Effect & Jumal racing horses as low as 52. It’s certainly not ideal but it’s not the fault of the system, it’s the fault of too few horses in their grade. No system can overcome that problem. The choice is to tighten the rating range for that race but then you deny TLZ & Jumal a start. The only solution I can come up with is we get some clever engineering person to develop a mobile start vehicle where you can handicap horses off a mark.

Was thinking that myself. Didn’t Swayzee win a decent portion of that last year or the year before?. Must be a massive premium HRV pay for the insurance on that.

And yet the thoroughbreds race for about $20k in the outback & at least $100k at a average metropolitan meeting.

I’m extremely sceptical that Brodie is the railway sleeper person that people seem to think he is.

Not sure why he didn’t go forward with Akuta. If he’d come off the gate he would have led or trailed IMO.

Are some clubs stashing away money incase funding is substantially cut in a few years?

It’s not about being asset rich. The ATC is asset rich inspite of their massive debt. Agree with you there, they should be paying stakes closer to the amount they are receiving in funding.

On a similar vein I notice the Stridemaster results are very slow now. Fridays meeting at Addington still hasn’t got the results posted from race 8 on. They always use to be posted on the same night. Also I notice they don’t have the stridemaster link from the results page now. It was really good the way it was, I don’t know why they have changed it.

Seems to be a problem during & after races on race days. Didn’t work on Friday evening and came back on Saturday morning. Currently still not working. I’m no expert but it seems their server is not handling the amount of traffic to the site. It never used to be a problem so not sure what has changed.
