  1. Are some clubs stashing away money incase funding is substantially cut in a few years?
  2. It’s not about being asset rich. The ATC is asset rich inspite of their massive debt. Agree with you there, they should be paying stakes closer to the amount they are receiving in funding.
  3. Sounds like my kind of guy. Would love more details of what it was all about.
  4. On a similar vein I notice the Stridemaster results are very slow now. Fridays meeting at Addington still hasn’t got the results posted from race 8 on. They always use to be posted on the same night. Also I notice they don’t have the stridemaster link from the results page now. It was really good the way it was, I don’t know why they have changed it.
  5. Seems to be a problem during & after races on race days. Didn’t work on Friday evening and came back on Saturday morning. Currently still not working. I’m no expert but it seems their server is not handling the amount of traffic to the site. It never used to be a problem so not sure what has changed.
  6. I didn’t know either. I only signed up a couple of weeks ago & got $75 bonus cash. I used $20 of it and just checked my account now and the balance has gone 🤨
  7. It’s not a matter of showing them the door, it’s a matter of saving harness racing in the North, for those you mention and everyone else in the industry. The only viable way to do that now is to sell AP and use the proceeds to improve Cambridge & fund stakes. If we persevere with trying to save AP there is a danger we will all go down with the sinking ship. That won’t give anyone the outcome they want.
  8. It’s crazy putting Franklin back on the market. Isn’t it obvious that a residential development is not commercially viable on that land?. No one is going to buy it for anywhere near what the ATC need. If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result then the ATC is adopting an insane strategy. I believe the only viable option is to sell Alexandra Park, retain Franklin, & invest the excess proceeds in Cambridge. I’m not sure about this business of taking 10 years to change the land use but they have already sold part of it without any problem. Also if they really couldn’t sell it for 10 years I would expect the bank would be panicking.
  9. $28,750 is the late nomination fee. Personally I think it should be $50k to encourage trainers of top horses to nominate early. It’s a million dollar race after all.
  10. I wonder how much the late nomination is. Hopefully it’s at least $50k
  11. I think your post is quite unfair. I can see why Andrew would get frustrated with the inaccuracy of the original post. I think syndication is a positive initiative in getting people involved, and we really need to do that to survive. I don’t know Andrew very well at all but am well enough acquainted with him to say hello if I see him in the stables. I’ve always found him quite friendly.
  12. I wonder what’s going to happen with the horses they already have?
  13. One other point, I’m not sure if this is true or not but I seem to remember being told that the committee of the NZMTC at the time didn’t want Borana in the 1984 Cup because they were worried about Shands driving. (In my previous post I meant 1985 Cup)
  14. I guess back then most horsemen were trainer drivers and there were probably only one or two professional drivers full time not like today where trainers often specialise in training only. I remember thinking Borana was a good place chance in the 1984 Cup as he was very unlucky in the previous years Auckland Cup running 4th to Royden Glen.
  15. I agree and he could have kept Borana in his stable if he had been more realistic about his driving abilities, especially in big races.
