In my opinion... Of those 3 options, the live channel would be the best guide as the price is reflected in real time. A monitor in the TAB would refresh at set periods so could lag behind price changes. (similar to how teletext operated) Your phone depending on your 3G/4G reception and if you have push notifications turned on, may need to be refreshed to show the latest values. If you use the TAB website with a very good internet connection, you can see price fluctuations which at most times reflects the live channel display.

Hi MD - this is the first time Riverton have raced this year but I get what your saying. When the new site was launched, oversea racing fields had very little detail about each runner, quite similar to what we see now for Riverton. Maybe they are using an older API or the developer did not realise Riverton is in NZ, not a town in Utah. ?

You make some good points. It did cross my mind that having 2 meetings close together at the same venue with the same meeting code with some runners nominated for both days may have caused this issue. SQL queries if not filtered correctly in the where clause that return 2 results when only one is expected can stop other code from executing. So it’s interesting to note Riverton is the first time it’s raced under the new platform and a meeting held at the same venue only a day apart is also being raced using this platform. Hopefully they tested these scenarios.

As a person who works in IT and writes code this is an interesting problem. I suspect the base code has been written by contractors so it won’t be looked at or even fixed until Tuesday. As the functionality for displaying details for each runner works for all other meetings except Riverton, this indicates values/parameters being passed to load the data are either invalid or unrecognizable. My best guess is when they loaded the core data for Riverton (date, course, meeting etc..), there is a bug (leading or trailing space for example) which the rest of the code can’t interpret. The way the code is compiled, it will load as much as it can and not crash the site. Just my opinion.

Hi Hesi I'm in if FTF decides to participate. Just a few questions. Does a scratching go on the fixed odd favourite or the tote sub? Are results calculated on the tote dividend or fixed odds? Does a result only count if a selection wins? (a place result may return a greater value than an e/w). For late scratchings, are selection changes allowed. If a meeting is abandoned, is the competition void or the current leader wins. Thanks

You ask a good question. I could discuss in a month of Sundays how I ‘frame’ a market but this isn’t the place for that. The first thing you pointed out how FTF and myself had similar prices for Piece Of Kate. (FTF has shown over the last few months great skill in landing value bets so his markets, IMO are worth close consideration). Nuts and bolts. Piece Of Kate has 3 stats that rate as good as if not better than the top 2. The compress field and the non-appearance of a super mare (Savy Coup) or a smart 3 year-old (Avantage) has this fields prices less pronounced. Would I bet on Piece Of Kate? I have her the 7th best from 8 runners so to find a reason to include her in a bet could only mean a field bet in a multi (pick 6, quaddie), a change in track conditions or scratchings. Most times I don’t pay attention to the TAB market until race day and when I have made my decision but by then as Robbie Waterhouse says, if you like a horse, just punt it.
