  1. What the industry has not got right is looking after the home hobbyists owner trainer breeder these people are already in the game they just need help most of us have property mortgage free homes and a small amount to spend on the sport come hobby, The 40 age group don't have this as they are struggling with rising cost on the home front and very little to non to spend on a wing and prayer race horse. What grinds my gears is why the trotter is give way less in returns, the costs and time taken can be more and have more numbers to the races at times. We all know the old saying if you don't change nothing will change,I feel you are far better off helping the ones that you have than casting the net to try and catch something that's not there.Have a coffee card mentality the more times you race you get a bonus this will help in many ways horse races more and the hobby breeder come owner trainer might just breed again. This group will keep your sport alive.
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong but how is this going to help when ruffly only 25% of our horses are sold at the yearling sales the rest are bred by mums and dads owner breeders, factor in some stallions don't qualify then its guaranteed to fail. Mentioned in the recent breeders mag one well known breeder use to bred 50 now breeds 6 as costs in every direction has gone north. I only bred one this year and wont breed again.
  3. Owners Card allows you to get 20% off food and Drinks which is a good incentive to go to the races at Addington. To get a new card for the 24/25 year your horse has to go to the races first.
  4. I cant get a new card till horse races, as my horse is not ready for a month or two where is the incentive for me to go I'm better off staying at my local and when its ready to race I don't think Ill be bothered in even going I'm so pissed with these dumb decision I feel like chucking the towel in. Decision makers should be wanting to incourage not discouraging you from the game. Or have I got things wrong? What do others think.
  5. where's me actual time of day gone no longer on screen do they want us be like a casino blacken out all windows so you don't no what time of day it is.
  6. just realized its a 1 hell I need more alcohol Ha Ha better go to spec savers Ha Ha don't think that'll help ha ha
  7. Entain have never been to art school as Blue is the worse colour to have as a back ground colour even look at there own logo you can hardly see it, not needed. Also what's with the upside down U in there logo ?
  8. Its a big stuff up Brodie my wife and her friends back a good place bet more than a winner often gets a tidy sum at the end of the day. when she watched the present the look was..... lets just say there would be a big mess to clean up if she had her way with the TV 😄
  9. Don't try to fix what's not broken......except in this case its broken beyond repair... to little to late dose yea head in.... man I need a whiskey.
  10. Totally agree with you Brodie was thinking the same thing. Wonder if it gives the Gin Swiggers a seat at the dance, Im yet to see where it helps our sport, Also to get a thing off my chest why have a 12k race for 2 only 2year olds bet if is was joe blogs entered the race wouldn't have gone ahead.
  11. The Park or as Arron White would say The Ribbon of light... is about to lose the old grandstand and get 193 apartments. Hell they gonna be shoe boxes.... Hopefully to buy a apartment you gotta have a share in a horse ha ha that wont happen, Id be worried if the get together and close down the racing you never know what's going to happen in this generation, fingers crossed it wont happen better cross me toes as well.
  12. Brodie... Firstly we have to ask ourselves are we in the game of Racing or Breeding Tis called Harness Racing not Harness Breeding. The overseas market should be distance second... what came first the horse or the cart ! for those that have forgotten CC bred to 21 mares in America of those 20 of them produced a winner so I'm told but someone will correct me. Tesio would say Champs are born not bred.
  13. If the gin swiggers of HRNZ past or present had come up with a plan to use colonial stallions with races purely amid at these horses with bonuses for the breeder, first ,second and third to be used back to a colonial stallion then we would be alot better off I feel. At the moment all we have done is line the pockets of overseas Stallion owners and nothing has gone back to the every day breeder, and don't get me started on the ridiculous fees that vets charge along with collection fees and working fees if we keep this up Auckland will be lucky to servive 5 years and others may not be to far behind, Don't worry about speed we are going fast enough particularly with trotters. Most of us don't worry about the time but would rather have a photo on the wall with some coin in the bank to allow to keep the horses in work.
  14. HRNZ should distance themselves from this and not have the said person on there front page, I could name other occasions where they have put young people up as so called role models nex minute they been charged and not seen again.
  15. When you have people on the Auckland Board asking others like Mr Balle and Mr Street to put some money into Auckland Harness that goes to show how far in the mire the club is. Many others like Lincoln Farms who have donated more than their fare share of dollars to the industry over the years. Where has all the money gone? Auckland has had some great people but for whatever reason they got pushed out the late Revell Douglas springs to mind, young and forward thinking. The club did nothing to support the owner trainers who turn up week in week, they struggle to get in the top half dozen places but they still turn up, a coffee card loyalty system was suggested years ago by trainers that now no longer train or have moved across the ditch, a great idea to add some money back into the pockets of those that turn up week after week, e.g. a bonus of $500 for attending 3/4 weeks. A bonus would have done something to pay some bills, but nope not even a free sausage. No wonder they place has gone backwards. Yes with farm land around Auckland region turned into housing this has not helped. But you have to move with the times. As soon as Lotto came on board in 1987 that is where some of the punting dollar went. Then sports betting and casinos you name it you can bet on it, HRNZ has not done anything in my view to attract or promote the sport. All that's happened is training fees, breeding fees and the list goes on have sky rocketed, stake money has not stayed in touch.
