  1. Maybe take the blinkers off. Gold apparently. Or is that on, I can't remember.
  2. That post race niche works well. I've not worked out a way of actually backing them for a return using it. Perhaps thomass should be telling us more about how he's managed that.
  3. Your assumption is correct. Your methods are flawed whether or not you been lucky enough to win here and there. Everyone's niche is better than what you do, if they don't do the kinds of things you write about doing.
  4. Funniest post ever. You love your stats, no doubt about it. How come you can't even come up with just a few selections to help the others out. Don't tell me, you don't trust your own brilliant methods. Even just before the race after your bet (with the extra 20% is already on).
  5. Best I correct thomass since he is not one to spout facts. I don't use stats. I use facts. Thomass uses stats - especially ones that aren't even related to the horse he wants to back. Very funny.
  6. That last post from thomass was hilarious. All those theories. And even the odd selection - after the event of course. Put up before the event or shut up.
  7. I would agree with barryb. I don''t do what he does. I also do my own thing which is beyond the comprehension of most. What I do try and do, is advise against listening to those that suggest certain things will help your punting when they are simply stupid suggestions that will lead people that follow to the poor house. Even if the person suggesting them says they make them money, then they have just been lucky - it happens. Ideas that suggest you can do a piece of form analysis and then apply some logic that has nothing specific related to the horse you want to back and claim it will make them a better bet. Steer clear of such nutters is the best advice I can give. One person on this site has done this a lot. But you will notice, he doesn't provide these gems pre race - or if he does, for some reason they have a history of losing. I guess they are just the rare exceptions. I'd also say, traditional form analysis is going to be far more difficult in finding an edge. More and more have at least that info and you need to outperform those people generally to get a margin allowing you to profit - if that is the goal. If you are happy just having fun and continuing on your path, then the likes of Thomass's selection theories are fine, but so would be the idea of using a dartboard be fine as well. Good luck.
  8. Started $150+ SP but at the place was still good odds.
  9. Given that 70+ is available given you like it.
  10. Maybe if you want to add any credibility to your ideas, you will come up with these supposed selections prior to the race like barryb has.
  11. Here are a few I will be considering at decent odds. Rosehill R5 #6 Multifacets Wodonga R5 #4 Frankly Harvey Ipswich R6 #13 Of The Day Narrandera R4 #12 Cosmo Star Kembla Grange R6 #9 Laszlo Gold Coast R7 #1 Fuerza Narrandera R5 #6 Little Capri Rosehill R8 #4 Viceroy Belmont R3 #2 Hes A Parker Kilcoy R7 #2 Boaz Morphettville R7 #7 Spiritof Endeavour
  12. What a great game this morning between Portugal and Spain. And the last goal from Ronaldo was clinical yet absolutely amazing. His facial expression and concentration leading up to it - just brilliant.
  13. Maybe. But why then even mention 'thoroughbred'. As I say, if there is no ulterior motive, the word is 100% unnecessary. It's there, so is open to comment.
  14. It doesn't necessarily show clear intent. But it leaves the possibility of such. The words are superfluous if the intent is to have a model that doesn't benefit thoroughbreds at the expense of others since omitting that would have said the same thing.
  15. I would say that may well be some of the reason. Are you of the view that NZ thoroughbred racing is not performing abysmally?
  16. Going to be difficult I would have thought to get the legislation changed to fit a model benefiting gallops over and above the other codes, through parliament. Does highlight how badly gallops are performing and the desperate lengths required to try and keep them afloat. Maybe they could just give all the revenue from non NZ racing to gallops. They are such a privileged bunch.
  17. I haven't argued about whether the information should be available. I've simply tried to help you out by letting you in on a few secrets. You can give punters all the information you like. Most will use it like you and it therefore will be irrelevant to their success or failure. But some people simply can't be helped. Which is why you will always be looking for more information, no matter how much you get. As you will always think you are missing out on the key piece to solve the puzzle.
  18. That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I find it highly amusing that the 'improvement' from blinkers, only applies to your top rated horses. And not to anyone elses. Do your top rated horses with blinkers on, know they are to perform better with blinkers whilst the other top rates horses don't realise that. Why do you need all this extra information? Isn't the edge you get from these other fantasies working out?
  19. Exactly. Because it rarely makes a difference. You want all these stupid 'stats', but the 'stats' even tell you how little difference it makes to horses on raceday. It's just a guess. I don't like to deal in guesses - especially guesses that are generally so far off the mark. And on your theory, then it shouldn't matter whether it is blinkers or ear muffs or a tongue tie - or anything else on or off. Because for a top rating horse, surely you trust the trainer has applied a change they have tested in training and the change is going to deliver a length or two extra. Surely. Or do they apply those changes just for fun?
  20. I never commented on whether drugs made a horse go faster. If such drugs were allowed in the jurisdictions I bet on, then I would investigate the claim and whether it was universal or not. If it wasn't universal and applied only to a small degree of the population on a case by case basis, then I would ignore it. You've repeated continually your approach to blinkers. It has nothing to do with trusting the trainer. You trust that the blinkers make the horse run faster. There is no proof that is the case. Of course, me thinks one doth protest too much abut the lack of information if indeed these 'gear changes', 'operations' etc notifications were giving you such an edge. All these great ideas you have, yet you still persist with continually wanting more. It sums things up pretty well for me. You'll never have enough information because you apply things to a horse that are not based on anything to do with the horse.
  21. This is Thomass's view of statistical proof.
  22. Yep, the government has legislated obligations. The codes aren't trustees. They are merely benefactors. The TAB is a local monopoly. and operators offshore are essentially licensed or able to be licensed already. That is what the race field fee option provides.
  23. The problem with that is that the codes don't own the TAB. The government does. And I disagree, retaining the TAB as a monopoly betting provider is negative thinking. Provides no betting stimuli for potential punter participation as they cannot be all things to all punters. Hence why some bet elsewhere and with that, bet on alternatives to NZ racing since the market parameters are more appealing to do so.
  24. It matters when you get people believing NZ gallops has a greater right to things and that the likes of Messara get asked to provide recommendations primarily targeted at gallops. It also matters when no matter what they do with NZRB, all of the codes are still only going to be able to exist due to the largesse of the government. Since none of the codes (except perhaps the greyhounds) are able to earn any actual net revenue themselves. An environment that has come about due to the policies of NZRB with support from the codes themselves. They sold themselves down the river, and now they aren't happy with the sale price. If you own a restaurant that was struggling to make any money, perhaps you should get a handout from the government as well. The government could open up a pie selling business selling Australian pies and give the proceeds to the struggling NZ restaurants. Sound like a good idea?
