' It reports a recent surge in migration I.e. since the Budget briefing'

Don't you realise immigration dried up during covid?

Don't you realise business screamed for more immigrant workers for unskilled and semi skilled jobs,to make their operations viable and cap wages.

Geez you really do have selective reading skills!

B/s.....the Prefu was a kick in the teeth for the Natz .It was nowhere as dire as they were expecting.Current a/c deficit only 6.6% of GDP.GDP forecast growth of 1.3%.

Which was a result of..........ramped up immigration of unskilled workers!!  Plus property price improvements!

Because the alternative is at least as bad,and potentially....much..worse.

Bollocks!  Only if you have been a Government Bureaucrat or consultant sitting on ya arse for the last six years.  Cut back 1,500 MBIE staff and there's a saving of at least $150m for a start!

Bernard Hickey explains...

'

“But the PREFU isn’t all ticketyboo. Yet again, Treasury does not include the very real liabilities being stored up for future generations in the form of higher public health, climate, education and housing spending because of the systematic and ongoing underinvestment in infrastructure, relative to population growth of 1.5% to 2.0% per year, which is being pursued by both sides of politics in an unacknowledged, undebated and unplanned-for way

Both sides of politics are betting on higher migration and tax cuts to keep themselves in power, but by doing so are freezing in place an unsustainable structure of our tax system and Government that is starving the nation of investment. In essence, Labour and National are consuming today’s cash profits, rather than reinvesting surpluses to help the young deal with a more difficult future, let alone improve their health and wealth. It’s a selfish, short-sighted and fundamentally sociopathic approach to governing”.🎠

LOL geez you are hilarious.  You call out on PREFU content and it's blatantly obvious that you haven't read it!  Probably relying on the cheat sheets from Red HQ.

I assume they are exactly like I used to receive from HQ when I was a candidate.  Policy briefs, talking point, spin.

Please explain...candidate for what....spin from..who?

When I ran for Parliament.  Each candidate received briefing papers in the mail from Party Headquarters nearly every day.

Much quicker and easier nowadays to email them.
