Imperatriz - tackles the Moir.

Dwyer proud of Asfoora | RACING.COM

On the back of her gallant second placing in Friday night’s Group 1 Moir Stakes (1000m), trainer Henry Dwyer says he couldn’t be prouder of his speedy mare Asfoora.

Run down late by New Zealand star sprinter Imperatriz, the daughter of Flying Artie proved once again she’s a genuine Group 1 contender after another narrow defeat at the highest level.

“She’s done a great job, I’m super proud of her, she’s run out of her skin,” Dwyer said.

“It gave us a bit of a thrill at the 50-metre mark, she just does that, she always looks the winner at some stage.

“We always thought there was a good improvement to come from her first-up run and she showed that tonight.

“She’s been beaten by not just a superstar, but a megastar, and she’s had to break the track record to beat us, and we’ve probably broken the track record ourselves.

“She’s a top-level sprinter and that will be proven over the next six to 12 months.”

The leading trainer admits it hasn’t always been the easiest journey with the five-year-old, who is finally reaching her true potential.

“I couldn’t be prouder of her more so because of where she’s come from, she had a humble beginning,” Dwyer said.

“She’s been very hard work all the way through. She’s just mentally improved so much just over the last 12 months and that’s what I’m most proud of.

“My team at home, having worked with her, and having gone through the hard times with her, and now she’s the finished product, I’d like to think it’s just going to be all upside from here.

“We were four weeks between her first and second run and I’m more than happy to now go two weeks into her next run as she’s done every preparation before now.”

While connections of Imperatriz say The Everest isn’t an option, Dwyer says the $20 million race is still very much an option for Asfoora.

“We’ve got the Everest, the Everest consolation in Sydney and the Schillaci in Melbourne it depends on how she pulls up in the next couple of days.”

“It just depends on what offers come for the Everest, we’ve been talking to a few people and there’s also a good consolation race up there, and the Schillaci is also a good race, and she’s dynamic around Caulfield.

“We’ll work it out in the next couple of days but very proud of her and very proud of (jockey) Mitch (Aitken), he rode her super and she’s run a great race.”

Aitken also expressed his pride in the mare, despite having missed out on recording his first Group 1 victory.

“She comes out every time and throws 100 per cent at it and that’s all you can ask for,” he said.

“A better horse beat us tonight and she’s come out and done her best and only just been beaten so we’re very happy with her run and very proud of her.”

You have demonstrated on this thread that either your comprehension faculties are very limited or you just like making allegations that you cannot back up...i.e...lies.🤢

I could list your many constructs on this thread, but they are obvious to anyone who is bothered to...read it.

Far as I could see the Thread was about Imperatriz winning the Moir .

You were in the Negative and wanted to lay like a chook.

Everyone else thought she could win . and she did. very convincingly. so take defeat humbley and move on to The Manikato ...   Can she win ? or are you going for whole basket of eggs ? 😅 😉

Ouch!!!.What a win, great ride by Bosson and really showed her class.

Went past Uncommon James so easily.'

There is nothing wrong with an alternate viewpoint on who will or will not win a particular...race.

yeah maybe .. now that does sound like 3 great observations .

Geez Bosson making it tough on himself , charging back to Nz rides straight after. You would think maybe risking being a little travel weary at Hastings yesterday . Did win a race on Financier , but missed out with the 'Tycoon ' . Think they could of just left Mickey Dee on at MV. large amount of money in his (Bosson)  pocket for winning G1 in Victoria I spose.

Tokyo Tycoon didn't handle the track.  Listening to what Walker said a week or so ago about not tackling the Guinneas at CHCH due to the float travel.  From that comment I gather he is a bit weak and needs to strengthen or he doesn't hold condition well.

Bosson knows Imperatriz inside out which proved to be beneficial.  Plus being on the Te Akau payroll Bosson may have been a more profitable option.   Walker said after the race that it was Imperatriz who was keeping Bosson enthusiastic and on top of his weight issues.

Mickey Dee will get his chances in time.

I see Think About It made it 8 in a row yesterday at Randwick...with plenty of improvement to come.

First 1200m win yesterday at Elite level.

Goes into The Everest second up after a 1200m Grp 2 win.

I doubt he'll contest the Manikato which would be his third 1200m in a row.

Not sure many of thosein the pre-nom book that are racing in The Everest will make the Manikato.
