curious
On 3/01/2024 at 6:19 AM, Freda said: And the West Coast circuit, on the skids because of an arbitrary decision to deny Westland a day at their own track; whatever reason given was the typical b/s trotted out by these people. The club had the financial resources as well as community support to make any alterations deemed necessary from their OWN funds, no need to call on the industry like the bigger bloodsuckers do. So Greymouth kindly ran an extra day for Westland. But when the Westland committee resisted the expectation that the property value be vested in NZTR, and sold it back to the community, payback. No further date, so circuit reduced to three days squashed into a small window. Uneconomic for trainers from afar. Trainers and owners who have supported the clubs for decades, now not coming. The astonishing antics of an RIB official last year to abandon Reefton...the writing is on the wall. Not forgetting that we'd also lost two days at Westport earlier.

Every year that goes by the Summer racing gets worse and worse and every year the only ones put up as successful are the country clubs giving the people what they want, unfortunately we are doomed with the decisions that have been made. Totally agree. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that picnic meetings where they cater for families are the most popular. Pukekohe looked dismal. More trackside presenters than public.
Newmarket
Usually I clash with Freda’s comments… but this time I agree 100%
Special Agent
As pointed out brilliantly by others the TAB Rep is talking tripe. In addition to what has already been commented on, if so many are excited by stakes increases why are the fields so light on? And if you are talking race quality I challenge you to find a more sad looking Queen Elizabeth than this year's version.
