Will we get to see her back on the track come spring?

Hope not.ย  If Te Akau have vetted her and the information says don't race again as there is a high risk of injury racing again then I'd say NO.

At the end of a horses season Te Akau fully vet and x-ray all their Group 1 horses.ย ย

Ellis is adamant there was nothing structurally wrong with Imperatriz barring the general wear and tear most top-level horses show but their veterinary advice was a broodmare career was her best path.

Ellis says while Imperatriz is being offered as a broodmare and they would not race her, there is no horse welfare or health issues that would stop her racing again.

โ€œThe decision to retire her was made because of wear and tear but we also realise that whoever is lucky enough to buy her has the option to put her back in training,โ€ Ellis told the Herald.

โ€œWhoever buys her is buying a very special horse and a very valuable one, so Iโ€™m sure they will be surrounded by good people.

โ€œI realise if a racing career was considered, it would be with a leading trainer and youโ€™d trust that person to make the right decisions based on how she was.

ย

โ€œThereโ€™s nothing that would stop her racing on, so if thatโ€™s what happens Iโ€™m sure sheโ€™ll be in good hands.โ€

So why retire her?ย  Te Akau made a business decision based on the vet report and her broodmare potential.ย  BTW what would be the cost of insuring a mare worth around $6m for a year?

I know it costs $26k per year to insure a filly that's valued at $600k.

Wow, a whole 27??? So you think she has been over raced๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

Hell you talk some shyte.ย  Every horse is different.ย  27 for some horses 24 at the elite level can induce significant wear and tear.ย  Some horses can't sustain less than that without injury.ย ย
