hesi
Jockey and horse okay, so take a look at this(2.12), she appears to take exception to the running rail changing from white to red, is that possible? https://loveracing.nz/Common/SystemTemplates/Modal/Video.aspx?v=http%3a%2f%2fwww.racingreplays.co.nz%2fmedia%2f201812%2f20181212HAWK03_BB.mp4&i=%2fCommon%2fImage.ashx%3fw%3d720%26h%3d400%26a%3d1%26o%3d1%26bg%3deeeeee%26p%3dhttp%3a%2f%2fwww.racingreplays.co.nz%2fmedia%2f201812%2f20181212HAWK03_BB.jpg&r=Race+3+-+BLACK+%26+WHITE+GROUP+1300&rs=1 Edited December 12, 2018 by hesi
Freda
Haven' t seen stipe's report, but at first glance, it looked to me as if she took exception to the whip, went to duck away and realised too late that the rail was there.
hesi
Sam Collett appears to give the horse 2 lots of 3 with the whip, then stops and the horse takes fright, just as the rail changes colour
hesi
NAVAL FLEET (S Collett) – Shifted inwards approaching the 100 metres making contact with the running rail, blundering badly, dislodging rider S Collett and dislodging a portion of the running rail. Rider S Collett was examined by St John paramedics and cleared to continue with her remaining rides. Connections were advised that NAVAL FLEET must trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to starting next. A post-race veterinary inspection revealed NAVAL FLEET to be 1/5 lame in the right foreleg.
Huey
Might be an interesting type of horse these Declarations of War, from memory the one Bosson was on at Rotorua went to stop near the line and now this one has done this.
hesi
Red seems to rark up Bulls, maybe horses don't like red as well. Why would you change the colour of the running rail anyway
Freda
Wtf does 1/5 lame supposed to mean? I noticed the horse changed legs several times in the last 600m.

Why would you change the colour of the running rail anyway Bulls are colour blind for red and green. It is the movement of the cape that sets them off. 1

Who needs a vet, we've got Google Grading the Lameness Grade 1. The lameness is not recognizable at the walk, but is evident at the trot. Usually, with a forelimb lameness, the horse's head drops down when the sound foot lands and raises up to its regular height when the affected side lands. There may be an asymmetry in the gluteal rise with hind limb lameness. There also may be an audible difference between the landing of the sound foot versus the lame foot (i.e. the horse lands with less weight on the lame foot). Grade 1 lameness' are most typical in chronic, nonprogressive diseases.

hesi
Should have used Google again. When you have an ache or a pain somewhere, never pays to Google it, you then start to think about planning your funeral Come to mention it, we do have a pain, and I can't find them on Google
hesi
So back to the thread, they'll be starting to call you other names soon, is it likely a change in colour of the running rail could have spooked Naval Fleet

However I do subcribe to your theory of the change of colour after seeing white all the way up the straight then suddenly cease may be it didnt notice that the rail did still exist, it wasnt a major prop sideways more a lean over to end up brushing the rail heavily. hesi
Looks like Naval Fleet tries to jump the rail as it turns red
