Tornado Valley is the champ. Hard to believe considering I remembering him run 3rd at Oamaru in January.

Speeding Spur was disappointing.  Should have run 2nd with the run and not being able to even challenge the winner shows he is slightly off the best...harsh?

Monty would have been better on the back of the winner and 3rd or 4th was his lot considering he was 3 back on the inside and only one horse moved during the running.

Tame race. Seems par for the course.

Damn, thought Speeding Spur would have dragged Monty into it. A nose from 3rd and still trucking, great result for Monty as he wasnt mentioned in dispatches by anyone in the commentary before the race.  Some disappointing runs in behind, no one was prepared to move apart from the second horse. Strange race.

Now there is one tough horse. Tiger Tara with a front running track record 1.53.9 mile rate over 2750. Outstandind effort. Thought Pat got held up by a weakening San Carlo but was never going to make to much ground on that pace after clearing traffic.  No excuses, one horse race in the end.

Hardly tame Happy!  rated 1.59 mr for 2700 plus. Was the fastest mr of the IDs and over the  greatest distance.  Was clearly the best horse of the series and in the final the rest could not just keep up on the fast pace. No wonder there was no moves, suicide if you did

True.

Speed wise very fast. In terms of spectacle not much. Seems to be a developing trend to just run at a quick tempo in front and see if the others can catch you. The ability to settle near the front is everything these days as, as you say, its suicide to do anything else.

That's true at Melton, not the best track to have to come around a field.
