hesi
Just to clarify the prize then 1. One $600 bet to the winner - win , place, each way?, when?, where" 2. Bet successful, they keep $300, plus 20% of anything above $600. A $1200 collect for instance, they keep $300 plus $120 = $420, the remaining $780 to a charity of the winners choice

barryb
Winning this comp under the rules requires every bet to be in double figures, In fact pick the rank outsider in each race on the 2 days and hope 1 gets up. I know it’s a fun no skill involved comp Hesi, but you now have $600 and if Thomass put $200 in I will also, but on the proviso you change the rules to require a level of skill. 1) Everyone starts with $100 bank and must bet in each race. But can bet any amount they wish provided they bet the full $100 on the first day. Win only bets. 2) All winnings are carried forward to the 2nd day so they can bet that, with the only rule of a bet in each race. give everyone an exact formula to enter so you can copy out for ease of calculating. r1 #10 $20 Perfect opportunity with decent money up to give this a real nudge, don’t low ball it with a lotto style formula. For those thinking stop being a wanker and there will be plenty, I say puntings about skill isn’t it?

Lookout - the current reigning world cup knockout winning tipster might just enter! ? Then again after a huge Christmas meal and a few tipples he might just wake up a bit late on Boxing day ? Merry Christmas to ya all! Edited December 22, 2018 by von Smallhaussen 1

There are things in life for mere mortals like moi...get moi's jollies from... Its called a 'fun' comp.... And you lost your 'fun' months ago when you started covorting with zero SOH types like the two hermaphrodites, grass and wee C... Now get back to bed...get your Misses to tie you up...do some Mindfullness exercises instead of Prat ones...and TAKE A DEEP BREATH best

Punting's a skill activity, whether it have money invovled or not, thats what sets it apart from the likes of Pokies, Lotto etc. Skill is something you don't have so i guess this sort of thing suits you. Thanks for the offer, but we'll keep it as stated As previously stated also, we will put something together along the lines of what you and Mardi have said in the New Year. A lot more time required, to run a comp like that, so Xmas New Year not ideal, for me anyway
mardigras
I'm happy to go along with the approach - albeit as barry states, it is largely a lottery. There is a decent chance that I will have a zero balance after the two days. So be it.
Newmarket
Wow, Hesi came up with a $200 donation for a bit of fun, then others get involved, want to change rules, 20% goes to this, gotta bet this etc.... I think mardy , barry &curious need to chill a little and see it for what it is. Many on here just pick out a few to put a buck ew on. Lets have a bit of fun, this thread is going bad fast
hesi
Thanks(Mardi) These comps are many things to many people, most don't care about the prize, more a bit of kudos about doing well and a bit of fun Look at it positively though Mardi, Barry and Curious. There are many on here who will be taking note of what you guys post, and re-examining the ways they punt As the cheese advert goes, these things take time And it is Xmas Edited December 22, 2018 by hesi

curious
So are you going to take barryb up and contribute to the prize Thommo? And Newmarket, I don't think anywhere I tried to change the rules. In the spirit of the season I added to the prize so the winner can potentially make a significant donation to their favourite charity and Mardi added to that and the take home prize for the winner. If you win, you need not accept my share of the prize. That's fine with me. I'll donate it directly to my choice of charity instead.

I simply do not want to be involved in a lottery comp where the winner keeps the money. hesi, carry on the way you are. Forget I mentioned contributing. I'm out and very chilled about it. I hadn't changed rules of the comp as such, just how the money should be awarded - and if the comp isn't about money, hardly a major I would have thought. curious
I agree but nothing wrong with a lottery now and then. Just not really my thing usually.
pete
Well gentlemen you can certainly exercise your right to not bother. The comp is supposed to be a bit of fun not an excuse to show whose analytical approach works the best. Try telling all of us who have been in PJs comps that it's a lottery. Your attitude smacks of a supersized superiority complex. Lighten up FFS.
