Get your stop the ban shirts out and everyone look your best tomorrow night.

Addington have just tried to tell us to take down our stop the ban signs from the electronic board for their dual code.

They don’t want us to display them.

Do our industry proud and show the public we are worth keeping.

This is very disappointing that another race code that collects rent revenue from the hounds behaves like this.  I for one will not support harness code in the furture

Yeah it seems like nobody standing up for the  doggie dudes….decision has been made. I’m surprised people still training, I would have sold the dogs overseas and got out of it, move on now for your mental health

Yes but there was a ban on exporting or importing greyhounds but would like to think they lifted that.  Does anyone know the answer to this?

I assume you are replying to my post.  If they are racing dogs and breeding dogs why not be able to export them to a jurisdiction that still races dogs?  Not exactly China is it?

Yes.

But the point is, the emergency legislation they passed in December strictly blocks this.

Legally, no racing greyhound can be exported to Australia from New Zealand for racing purposes.

Im not sure how well this would hold up in the courts if its challenged but as of right now, its impossible to do so.

Yes very sad for participants in the industry but reading a few reports looks like this has been a problem for a fair while.

Too true, industry has been given plenty of warnings to tidy act up….

Id be selling dogs overseas now, no good waiting till end of racing, be plenty selling then, and more than likely something put in place to stop selling overseas.

Racing and breeding dogs (i.e. ALL greyhounds) cannot be exported to Australia RIGHT NOW.

FFS.  It's more than sad for the "participants" in the greyhound industry.  Just because it's a bit of fun betting, or choosing not to bet, on greyhounds there are a whole lot of human beings who have lost their livelihood.  Not only that but, the poor bastards can't recoup any dosh by selling any competitive or well bred ones to a greyhound racing country.  Plus you must find suitable homes for your soon to be finished dogs, which must be desexed no matter the age.  How legal (or sane) is any of that??!!

Pick any other industry operating in New Zealand (i.e. freight companies, meat workers, forestry, electricians etc) and see how those families would cope if the breadwinner of the family was told he/she only had months to continue earning.

I don't think On Track have enough personnel to cope with the fall out on this one.

As for phrases like "tidy their act up" WTF does that mean?  Too many are talking through a hole in their head.  This isn't a game.  It's an absolute disaster, even if it doesn't effect you.  No one is looking at the big picture.  I hate the word woke but, FFS open your eyes we are being ruled by a woke minority!!

Go talk to every day, non-racing people.

Whether you want to admit it or not, public perspective on greyhound racing is awful.

Some of it is based on lies, some of its based on truth to. But the reality is, people here do not have a good opinion on the sport.

Everyone I have spoken to outside of the industry has similar opinions.

The industry 1000% failed to adapt to modern society, let some mis-communication get a foothold here and took way to long to make the necessary changes it has made the past 4 yrs.

In reality, these changes were needed a decade ago, back in 2014/15 when aus was under review.

Seems to me the people in the industry still refuse to acknowledge the above.

Even now, no ones tried address these concerns.

Other then one or two people that have tried, most trainers seem to just believe everything will work out which has always been the biggest thing holding the industry back.

On top of the above, it seems GRNZ is still a disorganised mess and cant get its ass into gear at all.

The last statement you make about GRNZ "still" being disorganised and a mess is total bull****. I fear the association is paying for the past sins of their leaders pre-2019/2020. The changes in welfare and standards (including a straight track) have all come about in the last 4-5 years. Sounds like it is too late sure, but it is so easy for people to simply blame them when Trainers are to blame also.

Last I checked, the association doesnt even have an idea on the amount of assets it owns.

Or maybe we can ask there record keepers who still call about the same 5 dogs every year that raced 8 yrs ago.

Still just as bad as ever. All of these actions you listed were a result of external pressures that forced them to make changes, even then, they were slow on the prounce which even RIB acknowledged on its reports.

For example, it took the sport being banned to make every sprint race pbd when theres been strong evidence from NZ and Aus that sprint pbd decrese injuries. Same with 7 dog fields.

I do agree the GRNZ has made plenty of changes the past 4 yrs but lets not pretend these were not driven by outside factors.

The lack of action on their part recently has been truly pathetic.

Its been 2 mths since the ban and theyve had no media presence, havent tried changing public perception, havent done anything at all except tell licensed ppl its business as usual.

You wont turn this ban over with legal support. You need to do what they managed to do in NSW here.
