Bitofa"legend" says another month...another month of "no action" but then goes on to say they heard GRNZ is legally fighting it.

Most of the muppets on here believe rumour and inuendo like its coming out of a tap, so with that belief - that would mean there has been "action" then, no? Maybe they just don't like telling you what's going on hahaha.

Instead of calling everyone a muppet (while sounding like one) why not tell us all what you DO know?

Ive heard from a trainer theres been rumblings but these were just rumours so taken with a grain of salt.

Spoke to someone else who owns 6+ dogs and has 2 brood bitches with litters on the ground today, said he was told last week GRNZ know as much as the public does at this point. Wont even offer him any gaurantees about anything.

And theres nothing stated publicly either. So definetly another month without anything official happening.

I take it your on the board or work at GRNZ to be this defensive about the lack of action.

Heard that the Harness Racing Club in Addington has stopped all race meetings with Christchurch Greyhounds in the future. If there is any truth to this, what a disgrace they are, and surely the TAB have the say where and who hold meetings.

If you do a back of the envelop sums from the last time the TAB provided any reasonable data in their financial accounts Prob 19/20 racing year, as long as Entain NZ continue to take Greyhound racing from Aust, the other two codes will be financially better off when Greyhound racing in NZ is closed down, Im sure they have both done the sums, plus now it is obvious that once the 50/50 split comes there is a fiscal whole to be filled, the other two codes are basically saying its every man for himself, and guess what the 50/50 split looks much better cut 2 ways instead of three.

I would have thought any contribution to turnover from anywhere would help the bottom line.

Unfortunately for Greyhounds its the profit distribution of the turnover, in simple terms the TAB makes profit from domestic racing, offshore racing, sports and pokies, at the end of the year profit was paid out at about give or take

19% to Greys, 26% harness 55% TB, the only turnover and profit that will be lost will be domestic Greyhounds,

and the sad reality is that the 20% of profit greyhounds was getting from sports, pokies, plus the revenue from offshore greyhounds adds up to a lot more than the profit being made on domestic greyhounds, thus the other two codes will be much better off to the tune of millions of dollars, plus  take the RIB for example according to TAB accounts 14m last year you would think there is a saving of 3 or 4 million just there alone once Greyhounds are gone. Now after seeing the TAB accounts for last year it is very clear that the 50/50 split at the end of the 5 years is a fiscal cliff, already with have the backtrack on pokies to keep that income stream, and now looking at the numbers the geo block has gone from being cream on the cake, to actually needed to be able to deliver any chance of the two remaining codes profit distribution they are getting this year being able to be met in 3 years time, Thus the minister in all likely hood has signed off on the demise of Greyhounds to minimize the fiscal cliff for Harness and TB.

Correct.  Both Thoroughbreds and Harness at the moment can expect to have their revenue reduce to a quarter of what it is now as it is heavily subsidised by ENTAIN to the tune of 100%.  The horse codes can't expect the revenue to have improved 100% on what they were getting prior to ENTAIN therefore the revenue will drop back to what it was then which is half today's funding.  However TABNZ signed a deal that gives ENTAIN 50% of the profits therefore the horse codes will get only 25% of what they have now.

The only issue with ditching dogs is they are a bridgehead and a distraction.  The anti-mob will regroup and target Harness now and if the revenue figures are correct Harness will fold very quickly.
