Its a worry when a $1.5m race generates $755,000 in turnover. Assuming 10% commission on turnover that means the race generated about $75,000 towards the stake. I think the industry tosses in a magnanimous $800,000 odd towards that race. I suppose some people think its a good investment.

Interesting that the more time honoured races take in the most money. Especially seeing the Karaka races had BGP input.

Any idea about the breakdown of that betting into 'on course' v off track?

I've not been to any big crowd meeting for a few years, are there many terminals now for those two WRC and ARC race meetings?

What % of on course crowd now automatically defaults to their phones for betting? sigh, I still prefer cash for betting! and a ticket with it!
