OOPS I spelt new wrong Baz... and you spelt sense and their wrong ! AND...if the reported 50 mill. for these changes is correct (I hope it has opened up opportunities , and Winstone has a handle on the returns it creates) Because a mill. a week, spread across all races in stakes would return disgruntled owners to the game, with an upward spiraling effect on the rest of the Industry
The Centaur
Certainly can't find a large win pool for NZ racing. So far at Taranaki on a lovely day win pool yet to reach $20,000 I distinctly remember going to Taranaki races in the sixties and never would win pool be less than $40,000 Not much better at Greyhounds only just reached $5000 in previous race. Hedley
Another thing wrong with the new site is the lack of a Damsire notification as well as a lack of Lefthanded or Righthanded track stats info too.

Go on the new www.tab.co.nz homepage... top left hand corner you will see TAB then on its right, Racing,...click on racing next page appears...under Racing...left to right...(Todays Racing, results, futures, challenges pdf form) ... click pdf form go to meeting you want ... i personally click A4 colour scroll down for an on - course style racebook with L for left handed and R for right handed stats !(NZ ANYWAY LOL)... What I,m after is the Barrier stats ...Where do I find those?...(can,t be that hard)

Best advice, ignore them.

There are plenty web site each with some sort of speciality. For barrier bias there are several but try racingzone.com example https://www.racingzone.com.au/form-guide/new-plymouth-raceway/2019-01-17/ scroll down to the bottom
porky
yeah Ive noticed no sets of stats the same...mmm they are a good lead though if track bias strong

Not that I'd think they are useful, but I'm interested to know that if they are all different, how do you decide which ones to apply? Racenet Oz ,Racebase NZ, and the 2 mentioned above will actually give you barrier starting positions and the start/win stats for each distance on firm/good/soft/heavy tracks. (to a varying useful / correct degree) Hence they are very useful for summing up your horses theoretical chances in combination with the course Bias (e.g leader bias on a front-running favoured track when you have an on pacer / leader)...say for arguments sake...sprint ...barrier 1,2 & 3) ANYWAY...NO CONSISTENCY OF INFO ACROSS ALL SITES !...OFFICIAL NZTR OR TAB STATS WOULD BE NICE! I,m not telling ya which one/s I use Madigras...YOU DO THE RESEARCH ! ...LOL
curious
11 hours ago, porky said: yeah Ive noticed no sets of stats the same...mmm they are a good lead though if track bias strong How do you know they are a good lead? And for that matter, how do you know there is a track bias? What exactly is that? Would it not be better to develop your own stats? And how can raw barrier stats be a useful indicator if they are not generated in relation to the chance of the individual horses in the first place? Otherwise, they surely just distort markets don't they if more punters rely on them? Edited January 17, 2019 by curious
porky
Whatever curious...you carry on your way mate...give us a yell if you need a cane (just joking)... I factor barrier draws into the mix when making my selections...good for value. especially @ certain tracks...todays racing @ Tauranga being one of em ! But then so is Hastings where I,m from, as is Ellerslie and many other leader bias tracks... not saying other horses can,t and don,t win.

You,d be laughing @ tauranga after 4 races It’s a total joke of a meeting today, sit and sprint races as normal, no jockeys using any initiative and actually giving their horses a chance, no wonder the fields are so small, unless you are a front runner you are no chance. Sandpiper
The more competitive the race the more the gate can matter. These are not competitive races and the best horses have won at least 3 of the first 4 races imo. Mardigras, the concept that the gate is factored into the SP thru wisdom of the crowds is only as valid as the idea that SPs are correct and cant be beaten. If you know more than the crowd you can profit.

If you know more than the crowd you can profit. I am not disagreeing. I've not suggested that barrier position is not worthy of consideration. I've said that barrier stats are not going to help you with that consideration. If you believe the barrier stats can be used, then I'm listening. Chief Stipe
What I can't find is my password reset email! I've had the green tick THREE times now and still haven't received the email! But can someone please tell me how this works - Why am I still getting the TAB promotional emails at the email address I'm trying to get my password reset email sent to? Got me buggered!

Or my favourite horses or trainer arriving into my inbox anymore, even though it worked up until last week and is still there.....because I have at least been able see it and actually add a horse.
