Lost Racing Colors

Hi all - hoping someone out there can help find my wife's colors. Last seen at Hawera races 18 May.  Thinking someone may have picked them up by mistake - they're mauve with black seams & a scarlet hat.  In a mauve bag the same color & named Melinda Rix.  Will try to post a photo later.   Please reply if you can help- it's her only set of colors so she's really hoping they turn up Thanks.

Hi Ross - do you have a written description as well?  Are the colours just one colour?

Hi  managed to get a photo up now which hopefully helps. The good people at the course have looked for us but no luck so far.  Just hoping someone discovers them somewhere. The mare was in the second to last race @Hawera that day - & they've been missing in action since.

One cant understand just why the haven't turned up, no use to anyone else,have their own identity, and very traceable to anyone that has them, not to mention the cost of replacing them, shame there's a few not so many good people in this country, fingers crossed they do surface, hopefully your not racing of to the races to soon, and they do turn up, good luck.

Shad - 100%!  The wife felt sure they'd been left behind or picked up by another trainer's rep by mistake & that they'd find their way back to us.  Surely! The colours are important to her ...she's holding onto a bit of hope but running out of avenues.  If anyone has discovered a stray set of mauve colours in their gear or knows where they could be - we'd be grateful to hear from you!

Seriously though they may be just left oncourse in the building somewhere.

Thank you Chief. The wife did make contact & someone did look at the course for her which was kind (Paul I think she said?). Unfortunately that wasn't until a couple of weeks later - the day her horses were due to race again.  She wasn't aware prior to that they had been lost. Even so, she still thought they'd turn up though, once the the search commenced ....

Any assistance or ideas gratefully accepted.

Did you ask the jockey where he/ she left them?

I had a rigmarole with a set of mine early this year...seems they found their way around numerous places, I was astounded that some bright spark hadn't thought, gosh, they're not mine....they eventually arrived but weeks later

Were they managing the track? 

We always made sure we picked up the colours before the next race.  A bit tricky if there is only one of you but we found if you didn't both parties tended to forget as either we were both getting ready for another race or getting ready to go home.  I always wondered why they didnt organise that better with a central pick up drop off point (at the weigh scales?).  A non-disposable bag with name, phone number and address for them also helps.

Thanks guys - the jockey could shed no light (just left them in the room I expect). And no - my wife's always left it to the trainer to bring & collect the colours for race day - and hold them pending the next need for them. I guess that makes sense as that way the trainer always knows they control & pack what's needed each day at the track - whether or not the owner is present.   And to be fair it's worked just fine up until now!

Woo-hoo!  Wife has apparently been advised colors have turned up a bit further north & are to be sent down.  Not sure of the details at this stage. 

So looking like a happy ending.

You're welcome anytime. 

Perhaps you should sew a GPS tracker into them.  Be able to track the horse as well!!

My money was on the Colours being located and returned.

In my experience most people are honest with a sense of fairness , and people who find things of some value will make an attempt to return or hand them in.

Most people in racing are trying to do their best and do a good job , and chip in and help others !

Great news, restores the faith in honest people, I to thought  they'd turn up, but never a given I guess.

Thanks everyone - that's pretty much what my wife said too.  She was just trying to get the word out in the hope we'd reach whoever had them.  She's happy to know they're on their way back to her.
