Newmarket Posted yesterday at 06:53 AM Posted yesterday at 06:53 AM Usually leading up to cup week…. this stable is firing, so what’s happening. Akuta was very average today, should at least got 2md, in fact should have challenged winner with the run it had, and Dont Stop Dreaming was poor after getting a good run. Sad to see the decline, by all accounts this will see less owners spending big. Only 2 weeks until cup day, surely these 2 will struggle to finish in top 4. Quote

I did read that Akuta was only around 80% fit for today's race, and that looked to be the case late in the race, still thought he went ok,be interesting to see if he heads to Kaikoura next week,or the Cup Trial,i think he'll need to run in 1 of those to get fitness for the Cup. And DSD is trained by the Cullen's now,but yes he was disappointing. 1 Quote

Be surprised if they improve enough to be competitive in cup…. the aussies will be hard to beat and the winner today has grown a leg Quote

Be surprised if they improve enough to be competitive in cup…. the aussies will be hard to beat and the winner today has grown a leg Republican Party having a perfect preparation to take out the NZ Cup this year. Has had 'a leg growing' for a year now since his spendid 3rd in the Cup race last year to Swayzee. At this stage last year he was dueling with Merlin, Don't Stop Dreaming and Alta Meteor for the Cup placings , after finishing 4th behind them at Ashburton Flying Stakes, but this year , with that clear cut win over them yesterday at Ashburton (and /or last week in the Canterbury Classic) > he has proved superior to them now. Looks Ready for the Ultimate Prize Win . A NZ Cup for Republican Party . Carter's driving of him is AAA +++ quality to go with the job as well. (Akuta not quite at his level it seems this time in. But no one else is either at the moment ) Quote

RP was $7.50 when I started up the NZ Cup 🏆 2025 thread. should of backed him then 🙄. backed Akuta instead . at 11-1. he's now at 15-1 😅👍 Odds I can see today on Sportsbet are Leap To Fame $2, R.Party $2.50, Kingman $3.80, Swayzee $5.00 and DSD $9.00 What to make of the Purdon runners . well Oscar Bonavena still $4.00 in the Dominion so a nice chance for Mark and NZ to beat the Aussie 's that turn up. Muscle Mountain at $7.00 is trotting so well currently too, so must be a big chance ? Quote
Nowornever Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) 5.50 for Republican Party first NZ horse home three or four months ago when Leap To Fame was so short was great value and me and a few mates jumped on that. I see the option is gone now. Edited 3 hours ago by Nowornever 1 Quote
