How long before the Taranaki Cup loses black type status completely!

Wow what a crap field for the Group 3 Taranaki Cup.  It used to feature the best middle distance horses over 2000m run in mid February.

Now a hack race over 1800m a month earlier.

They'll probably upgrade it to a G2.

Entire meeting there today wasn't a great undercard , a lot of scratching though ,but awfully boring racing.

Probably something to do with the expected heavy track.

H10 with a third as much rain in the last 7 days as Ellerslie, who are racing on S5.
