Happy Sunrise
This will be insightful regarding how the handicapping works as I don't pay much attention. Will Oscar B get a start even though it does not meet the conditions? And if it is given a start, will it get a 20m head start off the likes of Sundees Son? Is that fair when you don't meet the conditions of the race and there are enough starters anyway.
globederby12
Monty is not starting , going to Northern Southland meeting. I hope they give Oscar a start, will be interesting as he will give them something to chase and he can run some fast sectionals. Frankly if he starts ,its a two horse race.

Not sure where he will resume as yet. That decision is still to be made. He is trialing at Ashburton tomorrow.

globederby12
I tell you what , that Matua Tana ,s run was huge at the Mot. Five lengths last at one stage ,still last on the turn and powered home for 4th running greenly. Big lump of a horse but boy can he run, smoked past Winterfell in the straight. I always maintained Winterfell had found his mark some time ago. We are confident MM will have a very good season .
Counter Punch
Despite the fact he's outside of the race conditions, he'd get into the field irrelevant because there isn't enough horses there to fill a field from those within the conditions. The fact that he is outside the conditions because his rating is not high enough is different to had he been outside the conditions because his rating is too high. If there had been 15 eligible nominations for the race and they all accepted then he would be on the ballot.

To me winterfell is the trotting equivalent of chase Auckland, I wouldn't be surprised to see both sold
