the galah
How did that horse pay $66 today. It went a big race last week ,probably going better than the horse that was favorite in todays race. Unfortunately I only had it in combos with paduka who rattled home after getting lost yet again. There was some amazing dividends today. I had a wee nibble at Kramer at $151 to win,but it only ran 2nd. Bugger.

I look at Vintage Beach tomorrow at 2.60FF and wonder how they get to that price for it. Well done if it wins but to only get 2.60 ?

Now days those doing the final field odds seem to have a major influence on the final tote prices. Punters seem to follow their lead. As to vintage beach. I understand that stable does like to punt them, however that's hardly likely given its early dividend. Its not a strong field but $2.60 seems a bit ridiculous for its form. The bookies obviously must think it can win.

They used to back things in from the clouds to ground level a few years ago but doesn't seem to happen often these days. The Purvis barn is kept tight too like a few of the other obvious stables. You are right, it is not a strong field and probably the weakest race of the day. Vintage Beach didn't do much at Oamaru but was never really in it. I would take the 3.30 on Hidden Delight before 2.60 on VB as it seems to go well from a stand and the magical fix of being in a new stable will be apparent I imagine. Daryl Kerrigan would be a big chance if he stepped away on terms but that is a big if. If I was looking for a bet I would be back Gottagettabeer at 10s....step...run...trail...
