2 y-olds and yearling sales

Karrots

Recommended Posts

Who will be this seasons top 2y-o ... ? As we await for the 1st, 2y-o race of the season.

Taking a glance back at the 2020 yearlings sales catalogue and the usual AS owners that brought, none from what I saw, has its trainer up yet - I checked about a few days ago, possibility between then & now some could have put trainer up in horses profile on HRNZ if in training.

Who will get the honours? A bigger stable, a smaller stable, a hobby trainer?  As the season progresses, can use this thread to make our predicts on top 2y-o and the stable they will come from.

On another note - taking a look at 2021 yearlings sales & some pix & videos are up.

Lot 2 is called OK Boomer. The thing that caught eye, was horsey has big bum & big belly like Karrots yearling. Karrots already sniffing out the potential competition.

and fast? lol

Yes that is the key question. Have to wait and see.

The early 2 y-os, I will be keeping my eyes on are:

Sugar Apple, 1/2 bro to American Dealer & full to Sweet Maddison. Won recent trial - Green

Argyle - By Bettors Delight - Won a trial and workout - Green

Mitsi Gaynor - Sweet Lou full sister Im a Gigolo. Won a trial recently - Dalgety

See HRNZ have recently updated Sweet Lou winners, too include the Oz winners, that were breed here, but they still have missed Joey Lincoln. Good to have it correct prior the 2021 yearling sale. Sweet Lou has the most numbers along with Art Major.

Argyle was the sales topper last year, wasn't he?    I think David Butcher has chosen him as his race drive from the Lincoln Farms stables.

Ok. Im going to watch the replays soon. Just got some errands to do. Good spotting Eljay re Argyle, Im not sure but can check and confirm.

Actually thats what we could do. Take a look at the prices of some of these horse from yearling sales 2020.

Did some Karrot research - here is what I found 😁

Ok so Argyle came in at 5th highest. Below are those $200k +

1. = Toro Stride $280,000 Trotter

1. = Moet Shard $280,000

3. Master Stride $250,000

4. Five Bangles $220,000

5. Argyle $210,000

6. Ultimate Missile $210,000

7. Next To Me $200,000

8. Bollinger  $200,000

That seems like a good buy for Sugar Apple, thinking what both and only siblings to the races have done.

Auckland has programmed 2 year olds for next Friday. They may be a bit hopeful with both C&G & fillies races but they should get  one race off the ground.

Should be noms and fields out today, do you know of a 2 y-o horse to look out for Eljay either now or later in season?

It's exciting for everyone involved, anyone could have their hands on the Top Dog 2y-o male/female, who will it be ... ?

I haven't seen the 2 latest weeks trials live and most of them just being educated.     The only guide is likely to be in who is driving which horse.     No doubt David Butcher will get the pick of the Lincoln Farms quartet and with regards to the southern ones whether a driver comes north rather than staying at Addington Friday.          Auckland noms tomorrow - they seem to have switched from a Monday to a Tuesday when Cambridge racing in the same week.

Cambridge again. Didn't realize. All the racing action be at Cambridge. Oh my. Well its certainly centralized.

From a lets talk about something, its getting a bit on the same, same side. Like really again, and again and again.

Would start to switch off.

Looking at Cambridge numbers nominated looks like they will try and run 10 races but to do this some will be skinny in numbers.    Better they plump for 9 but I don't think they will.    Support for amateurs race again very poor and race canned.

Looking at Cambridge

Ok.

Well with another Camb meet on, bookies can lay their odds.

(Cross Codes to announce to us, another on his, who needs to improve driver/trainer list).

What will bookies place odds at? $1.50, $2? or a longshot at $20?

Looks like they are pushing on with 2 races, pending withdrawals. Exciting to see newbies. Hope they don't get stage fright.

Be interesting to see how the 3 I have got eyes on go. And how the $250K purchase does in comparison to the more modest buys at $30k and 35K as a contrast.

Fields out - Argyl draws 1 - almost dead cert this will be DJB's drive.      Wonder who drive the Dalgety team - will they bring up a driver or use the locals?

Yes & 1 of the baby blazes Sugar Apple has drawn the car park. Oh dear.

Good question, if they don't, dunno maybe Ferg. Think have seen him drive for them before. That just guess tho. We wait we see 😄

Yip tick D Butcher on Argyle who bookies have opened as 2nd fav. They have Mitsi Gaynor as 3rd fav & Sugar Apple as an outsider - likely due to carpark draw.

Ohoka Creed opening fav boys race.

Chevron Bypass opening fav girls race.

T Mitchell got the call up for Dalgety team.

Won't be able to watch tomorrow nite, but will watch replays with interest.

Karrots are you putting tips on for tonight though ? on the home page punting selections.

Roman and Milo might turn up and you should see if you can beat your record 22/ 30 ?    only 9 races this time.

I'm actually going to go thru now & select an actual small fun bet for the week to place Camb tonight. Eeck, hope no Karrot rage.
