Chimbu
More cringeworthy stuff. Why would you want to take any horse there, let alone a good one? Why would you want to punt there? This is from the Awapuni stipes report: GENERAL: Following the running of Races 1 and 2, senior riders commented on inconsistencies in today’s track surface with areas around the bend between the 800 and 400 metres in places providing significantly deeper footing than in the front and back straights. Conditions were further reassessed in consultation with senior riders following Race 3, and the track downgraded to Slow (9) retrospective to Race 3. Chief Stipe
Do you recall that this was the part of the track that was "rebuilt" and caused some controversy a few years ago? It was some online posting by Kevin Morton that got him into strife with the RIU and JCA after some serious issues of horses slipping on that bend. Particularly after light rain following a dry spell. If you listened to Jonathan Parkes after his ride on On The Bubbles he had it sussed hence his running wide over the last 800m. BTW that was another excellent effort by that horse.
nomates
The place is a shit hole , the trainers know it , that is why they are all over the moon with getting an A/W to train on , the place is abysmal to train a horse at in the winter . But that's where the whole thing is screwed , they will spend 15 mil + on an A/W when the main track is a goat track rather than rectify the problem properly .
Freda
And Riverton is on the 'close' list. Great day's racing there.

The ridings getting scarier down your way , that young fella that won the cup albut fell off 4 times in the last 200 , twice to the near , twice to the off . The head on was a great watch . I thought for a moment you were describing Riccarton but then realised that you were talking about Awapuni.

Good , or is that bad , that you have options of which shitty track surfaces to choose from .

Freda
And, when these young lads are riding the work, how can you repay them by not putting them up?

Especially when they have to contend with some rough training and racing surfaces.
