Horace
Yes it is. With the conjecture over ' The Hill' and endless discussions about their track, will they ever get a Strathayr etc etc the Board at ARC are displaying an arrogance which has unfortunately pervaded the club for years and years. How about just coming out and making a statement? Why does the racing industry put up with this secrecy and gossip when the situation could easily be clarified? Ellerslie needs people a lot more than people need ellerslie right now. Racing is in the doldrums and I believe its the mentality being displayed by clubs like ARC which is turning people off the game..big time. And yes, I'm sure that what gets written here and on the other racing cafes gets back to clubs such as ARC. They just think they know better. Well, the cock ups at Ellerslie over the last few years show that they don't know better. After being too precious to have horses trained within the course precinct etc its almost like they don't really want to be a racing club..just a money making enterprise. If thats the case....say so. Open bars 24/7, if thats what you want.🤑
nomates
Well they work very hard at attracting new and younger people to their course , but along the way they have treated the regulars , racing and punters like they weren't important . This tho is an industry wide problem . Look after the ones that got you there first then work on getting new people in . This is principly why NZ racing is going backwards . Many who were in the game have walked away and aren't coming back .

Many who were in the game have walked away and aren't coming back . Primarily look after the ones who are interested in the reason racing clubs are there - the horse itself. NZracing has completely lost its focus on its core product as clubs squirm over providing services & entertainment for the party crowd at the expense of racing people in particular owners & punters, one of main reasons I attend very few meetings even with a horse running. The industry heads have taken the easy route, but even that golden goose will have trouble laying eggs in the not too distant future.
The Centaur
I daresay the constitution of the club would require an AGM or special meeting in order to sell "the Hill". Furthermore with the proposed amalgamation of the Auckland region clubs any sale prior to the event would seem outside the interests of racing therefore breaching the legislation around clubs. We really need a member to come on here and state what communications they have received.
