1980m Races at Addington

Recommended Posts

I have the answer after contacting the club.

On the recommendation of trainers and drivers, it has been decided to trial 1980 metre races for a period to see how they go.

The programme for the 20th of July shows 1950 metres, but this is incorrect, they are 1980 metres.

Hope this gives clarity for the change in distance.

Cheers.

Robert.

Have just noticed the 1980m races at Addington in the nominations, but you beat me to the punch Happy.

You are doing a great job with your postings, BOAY’s gain and the other hasbeen sites loss, without doubt.

As you know I prefer the longer distance races rather than the shorter sprints so well worth the effort to trial.

The question remains, why did they ask? What is the difference of 30 metres?

(I'm just being picky, DR)

Hi Happy,

A longer run to the first bend I would imagine the reason. It will be interesting to see what the outcome will be.

Cheers.

Be interesting to see if the reverse works with horses drawn 1 or on the inside not being able to keep up at the start.

I presume 1950m was chosen for good reasons in the first place.?

I  recall  many years ago at Addington, the 2000 metre mobile had a staggered barrier arm.
