Chief Stipe
Randwick race meeting moved on NSW government’s latest COVID orders Posted by: RS NewsWire+ at 1:50pm on 25/6/2021 IMAGE: STEVE HART The Civic Stakes meeting set down for Randwick will now be held at Rosehill The Civic Stakes meeting set down for Randwick will now be held at Rosehill. Racing officials have transferred Saturday’s Civic Stakes meeting from Randwick to Rosehill in response to the NSW government’s latest COVID orders. The Australian Turf Club and Racing NSW announced the shift on Friday after the state government announced anyone living or working in a number of Sydney’s eastern suburbs areas, including Randwick, must stay at home. The Randwick local government area has been one of the regions most heavily impacted by Sydney’s COVID outbreak. Only essential staff will be allowed trackside at Rosehill, along with owners who have horses competing on the nine-race program. “Due to the evolving nature of COVID cases and as a precautionary measure, the race meeting will be closed to ATC members and the general public, with those restrictions to be reviewed next week,” Racing NSW advised in a statement. Racing officials confirmed all race times and distances would remain the same, aside from the Garry Burgess Handicap, which will be reduced from 1600m to 1500m. nomates
It would fry their brains at the prospect at having to do anything at that speed . And to where ? the bog track in the next town . There will come a time when a meeting with black type has to be xfered or canned because of rain , say like The Ruder stakes meeting at Otaki a few years ago , went to Palmy , now the question is would it go to the grass track or the A/W . It would be interesting to see how the numbers would hold up . It has to happen in the Waikato this winter you would think .

Well they certainly wouldn't think of transferring an underwater meeting at Awapuni to the great winter track at Foxton at short notice.
