Davis
Did anyone watch the TAB Sumthingaboutmaori Trotters Free For All (Group 3) at Bendigo Saturday night? Pre-race the event was billed as a match race between some of Australia’s upcoming mares that would soon challenge Pink Galah for supremacy… I’m Ready Jet and Alderbaran Tess. The race was an anticlimax I thought. Alderbaran Tess, driven by the lovely Sofia Arvidsson blew the start, and favourite I’m Ready Jet was a long way back most of the race. Alderbaran Crescent made the pace but it was Sleepee driven by the incomparable Chris Alford that won the race. There’s no doubt that both I’m Ready Jet and Alderbaran Tess are future top liners but they are not there yet. https://www.harness.org.au/racing/fields/race-fields/?mc=BN280821 Bendigo (Night) - Saturday, 28 August 2021 Play 6 8:05pm TAB SUMTHINGABOUTMAORI TROTTERS FREE FOR ALL (GROUP 3) 2150M $24,000 Trotting Mares. Gammalite
PINK GALAHS would of destroyed this field Davis. She is a 2 or 3 time Group 1 winner against the boys even. SLEEPEE been racing very well with 5 wins from 9 starts this year , so she thoroughly deserved this Group 3. On a side note , the 'Bettor's Delight' trotter (An extremely unusual breeding abnomily) in the race result posted above EMERALD STRIDE , who ran 2nd in the three year old Breeders Crown , but hasn't fired a shot this year. Time to throw the hopples on her I reckon, give a go at pacing. Trotting ranks are 'light-on' when you have a Bettor's Delight in there ? lol.....

Was a very good run considering drew the outside of the 2nd row. Had nowhere to go except to the rear and was still last at the 400. Came the widest and finnished off very solidly for 6th. Hit the line so well she was 4th not far past the post. Definatly a win comming very shortly for her in a similar race or just away from the top male trotters. Hopefully I will be on.

Yes, it is strange but topclass pacing sires like Bettors Delight occasionally leave an above average trotter. Another surprising breeding anomaly is the Jewels winning Captain Treacherous 2yo filly, Double Delight. The trotting filly is trained by Tony Herlihy and is unbeaten in three races. Captain Treacherous would be one of the last sires you would expect to leave trotter Gamma, but you never know. That is one of the joys of harness racing, the unexpected siring success.
Davis
Another remarkable fact I forgot to mention about Double Delight is that she is out of a Betteors Delight mare! How weird is that Gamma??

How weird is that Gamma?? That is quite astounding really. The Iceman AGH surely can train something special alright. I did notice on Jewels day DOUBLE DELIGHT had the 1/2 Hopples on . a rare piece of gear to keep trotters from over-reaching in front. She probably thinks she is Pacing ??? lol.... BTW , the horse you liked from QLD Derby (that Nzer American Dealer won) ,by Captain treacherous, named CAPTAIN CRUSADER , has hung around town this month and picked up 2 Very easy wins. You are good judge.!! But you wouldn't get rich though sadly, as only paid $1.20 both times He's a nice horse. 3rd in APG Final too. maybe he can win the Vic Derby? kiwi's won't be there in OCT if you guys banned, locked up, etc ?

Thanks Gamma. I have been watching Captain Crusader's recent results but not backed him as too short as you say. He's a very good horse. I think he could be a future grand circuit horse if he stays sound. He drew badly in the Albion Park series but still performed well showing toughness, speed and stamina. He is a consistent horse and would be a great money earner to own.

Not a big div but $3.40 was pretty good for what looked like a good thing.
