Superstar filly Ladies In Red’s horror run of barrier draws has continued in Saturday night’s Group 1 Breeders Crown final, but driver David Moran certainly isn’t jumping off.

Moran has driven stablemate Beach Music to win her heat and semi-final of the Breeders Crown, while Ladies In Red has been beaten from back row draws in her heat and semi.

Beach Music’s dream run of draws continued with gate two in the final, while Ladies In Red drew wide on the back row (gate 12).

Making things harder is an ideal draw (gate four) for champion Kiwi filly Bettor Twist.

“The draw has made things interesting, that’s for sure,” Moran said.

“But I’m sticking with Ladies In Red, I still think she can win from there.

“I think Beach Music will have the speed to hold them out, except maybe Treachery from out in gate seven. But I think Beach Music will lead and she’s at her best running them along, so it should be a strong tempo, which will help me get into from the back.

“You’d think Bettor Twist will be outside the leader and Ants (Anthony Butt, driver) has said he needs to turn the race into a war to win it, so I think it could play out well for me off the back.

“Even though she’s been beaten her past couple of runs, she’s gone enormous both times. She’s right where she needs to be.”

Butt described gate four as “ideal” and is resigned to doing much of the grunt work.

“A few of the others are as fast as her, but I’m not sure they are as tough. I have to drive her to her strength,” he said.

“It won’t be easy. It’s that balancing act of having to put enough pressure on Beach Music to beat her if she’s in front, but not going so hard it leaves me a sitting shot for Ladies In Red, Tough Tilly and Joanna at the finish.”

Dominant training team Emma Stewart and Clayton Tonkin have a staggering six of the 12 runners in the Breeders Crown 3YO Fillies final.

They also have three of the four favourites in the 3YO Colts and Geldings final, headed by Victoria Derby winner Act Now, who drew to find the lead from gate five.

Their other big guns are Beyond Delight (gate 10) and Major Moth (11).

Andy and Kate Gath’s emerging Yambukian drew to be the main danger in gate one.

Team Gath’s best hope on the stellar night of eight Group 1 finals is the brilliant but raw Catch A Wave, who is favourite in the 2YO Colts and Geldings’ final despite having to start from outside the back row.

Well good to see the NZ fillies didn't get the 'Visitors Draw' for the Finals. Right in the thick of it now ....

At 10-1 odds LIFE"S A BEACH drawn 1 is going to camp right on Beach Music's back , and get sucked up towards the Win late hopefully. That would be excellent for all the NZ connections.

The $2 favourite BETTOR TWIST (NZ 6 time Group 1 winner) may have to deal with the 'Big Guns' of Emma Stewart , that will be coming around the field from second row Mid-race you would think.

Always a chance with having 5 stable-mates engaged,  the Plan will be for 'Beach Music' to hold out NZer 'Bettor Twist' (Anthony Butt) for the lead, at ALL Costs.  Then just let one of her illustrious stable-mates take over , when they come calling. An excellent Plan.

Can't see her getting beaten and $2 is a great multi multuplier.

Hope you are right (esp if you have investment on her) . I was hoping for Number 1 LIFES A BEACH to emerge from the 'ruck' late and snatch a Big race win.

Only because BETTOR TWIST has 6 Big wins already, and would be great for someone else to share the spoils that hasn't got a Big Plum race yet.

BETTOR TWIST very convincing last week in the semi however, with a 54 second last 1/2. and great driver on too.

Sorry Chief. Not Even the tough BETTOR TWIST can't handle a massive Team Gang-Up against her , but a solid 3rd indeed.

LADIES in RED winning easily , from Stable-mate JOANNA after they had to come from the back too, from draws 12 and 13. with Hunter's Pick Beach Music setting exactly the pace they needed. Perfect execution . great plan paying off again.

A fantastic race , with many budding 'Amazing Dream's in it I think. Great bunch of 3 year old fillies.

I haven't seen the race but surely there wasn't some OZZIE Team Driving?

Of the highest quality mate , tip top notch lol. (the Allstars, Dunns and Telfers and McCarthy'sNSW ) have perfected the 'model')

The application results are incredible. Nz and Oz.

Think Mark did away with 'Hope for the best Luck in the running' theory years ago ? lol....

now others are getting in on the 'action' often as well (with a few in a race) and collecting the rewards. All Fair in Love and War (and race) Is very impressive considering the fast times they are running too.

Are the Stipes are onto it here and in OZ?

Nothing for stipes to see.......... The person who has  'less chance' of winning is the one 'Not in the team or stable.

Multiple stable-mates can generally help each other get a 'Better run' than what they would normally, against rival stables.

The last Auckland Cup is a very fine example , where a stable got COPY THAT into a position where he could only run third. was team driving at it's best, and every team member had a definite chance of taking the win. COPY THAT ? not so much.

BETTOR TWIST last night had many working against her, but the 'many' were ALL giving their horses 'Every chance to Win' still.

You can be picky who you hand the lead up too, who you cart up, who you push out , etc etc Your chances INCREASE of getting a better placing. .........Stipes are happy enough. everyone gets a 'chance to win' (just like AKLD Cup)

Bettor Twist race last night a Very Fine example of this. Breeders Crown 3 year old fillies final. Two of Emma Stewart trained runners were up front making sure Bettor Twist didn't 'take over' the lead , BUT still gave their horses a lead and trail (therefore they had every hope of winning) BUT all along knowing the pace they set would suit stable-mates at the back that drew 12 and 13 alleys. They did indeed run 1st and 2nd from the back, and your PICK , the blowing fav , was left to 'hang' in the deathseat. Perfect race plan applied and victory gained. Impressive work by all.

I don't know about Australia, but in NZ team driving is a breach of the rules and will lead to a disqualification. The only problem is, it's a bloody hard charge to prove

Well it's 'team driving ' as soon as you say to another driver , "I'll let you lead and no-one else, as long as you keep the lead once I give it to you". When you draw low alley, with a fast beginner from the mobile. Doesn't have to be a stable-mate at all even. (a VERY common example in Oz that happens every race meeting)

Just work as a team to obtain the best run , and therefore the best result , for your horses. Happens ALL the time. Did that many times as No point 'Not knowing 'what others are gunna do early ? your chances are SEVERELY COMPROMISED if you go out there with 'No idea' what others are doing tactically.

Make your own team !! and WIN i say lol........

Yes , Breaches can and should be punished. from the leading stable, Trista Dixon got a year DQ for 'Moving to one side" to let husband Grant win here in Brisbane a while back. Would they do that in Nz ? or ring Inca to have a look?
