Gavin
Whenever the Riccarton carnival comes around each year, I look back on some of the jumpers from years gone by that left their mark on me. Crown Star was an absolute beauty. Would love to see a clip of him doing what he did best if anyone has one? Fairly confident he was the Brownes best ever jumper. Not at all in the same mold as Ardri and Ascona. Another horse that comes to mind was the grey Charger. My memory is not what it was but I recall him winning a feature jumping race at the carnival about 30+ years ago. Unsure if it was the Sydenham Hurdles or the Koral Steeples. Reon gave it no hope in the home straight but it still got up. Unsure if Eric Templeton trained it. Was a fair enough horse on the flat from memory also.

Pretty sure it was the Sydenham Hurdles, and Temperton the trainer. Probably one M. Gillies in the saddle. That combo won a lot of jumps races in the mid-late 1970s.
