Brodie
Going by the UDR, I would say that young Carter Dalgety is the best Junior driver we have ever had! His stats as a junior are far better than what Blair Orange’s was as a Junior! Not sure but Dexter may not have been a Junior driver in NZ but if he was his UDR wouldnt have been as impressive as Carter I am pretty sure. Carter comes across as a very level headed young bloke and has always been very good when he has been interviewed. I appreciate that he is getting some pretty good drives from a top stable but I am prepared to state that he is going to be one of our very best drivers for a long time and a top trainer should he choose this route as well! His drives this year and last have his UDR both over .3000 which is very impressive. This year he has been in the first 3 in nearly 50% of his drives.

Dexter was the better driver at the same stage as he used to travel NZ and have full cards and had a huge win total - + 200 as a junior and high UDR . Carter is getting better drives and smaller numbers so UDR higher. I see HRNZ have wiped Dexter’s stats - short sited as valuable info when having a discussion like this. Hopefully they will reinstate them as some rank him as the best driver in the world . As a junior he won many driving premiership plus went to World Driving champs while still a junior. Now USA champ at least twice.

Dexter did win a lot and with some pretty average horses. Not sure his Junior UDR was as high as Carter’s though but someone will know. Spatchcock
How many times do we have to ask you to refrain from smoking drugs before posting on here, Brodie? Dexter had over 4300 New Zealand drives as a junior for 742 winners. Dalgety has had 127 drives in about 13 months. Ludicrous to even try and compare them. 1

Anthony Grant Herlihy MNZM has been a great driver his whole career. Back in the early 80's when he (and brother-in-law Mark P who wasn't too shabby either ) were Probationary Drivers as they were called then, Heaps of us young blokes would scratch around for a drive every 2nd week or so, in a C1 or C2 class Probationary drivers race (Affectionetly called Demolition Derby's) in the big 14 horse fields thundering around Alexandra Park, Cambridge or Claudelands (Ruakaka even) But One Bloke named Tony H always out of trouble and generally winning (no matter what he drove in it !!! ) He won every 2nd one of them I reckon ?..... unbelievably good that young bloke. Just Awesome mate. No UDR to back it up but it would of been Very High indeed for Tony !!👍

Nowornever
That was good by Carter on Republican Party. Rasmussen and Purdon just got wasted by a better drive in that race. Good to see other drivers take the Blue Army on during the race and not just let them dominate in races. Telfer stable also look like they have the horsepower to really make cup week interesting this year and Tim Williams not scared to take it to them as well. 2
Brodie
I still maintain Carter in his first 2 years of Junior driving is a superior driver to Dexter! If he isn’t then he is very close and the best since Dexter. He sits very nicely in the cart, is confident and intelligent so he can only get better with experience. Dexter is in the top few drivers in the world his record shows that, however my point was Carter Dalgety as a Junior is equally as good.

What a great pro-active drive by the young bloke. Won it easy. Natalie smacking into his head a few times with her horse (who was quite keen) Carter was Very impressive as Brodie has been saying. I'd give that Republican Party drive 10/10 . well done by young fella. Carter Dalgety going places. 55 minutes ago, Brodie said: Carter Dalgety as a Junior is equally as good. Telfers were amazing!!. What a great quinella in the New Brighton Cup with 'Wiseguy' and 'Joe" . they had 3 winners with cleaning up the Dunns 3 x Two year olds with Ardies Express and the Flying 3 yearold fillies they cleaned up 3 of the Allstars !!!! The North Islanders are well and truly established South now as not just the 3rd BIG stable , but a BIG race force now , to rival Dunn Diamonds and Purdon Allstars teams.

Brodie
Originally when the Telfers said they were setting up in Canterbury, I was not sure how they were going to go! Well they have showed us all what a great set up and trainers they actually are! By the look of it they are going to win the Premiership very very easily. Amanda Telfer obviously knows what she is doing but I would say there biggest asset is Tim Williams! It appears that the fallout with the AllStars has been a blessing in disguise and Tim is the one who has come out well ahead . Think AllStars loss is Stonewalls gain without doubt. Tim has developed massively over recent years and continues to give goals. Edited September 9, 2022 by Brodie
