While lots are critical of the TAB or the website the in play sports setup is actually very good, MLB and the NBA are live, lots of Tennis and Soccer and the reality is they are out to get the maximum amount of betting which is all about one thing , profit which goes back to our sporting bodies. Closing off aussie bookmakers for racing for kiwis, well thats a different issue. completely.
mikeynz
One other little thing i have noticed on NZ TAB, the odds on live betting is slightly less than what you get on a overseas site, i suspect thats more to do with the feed they are getting from their supplier. Peanut
So does this mean you cant bet on the NZ TAB when in Australia? Or anywhere else?

You haven't been able to bet on NZ TAB here in Oz for years Peanut, the 800k ex pats are furious, mad as hell, so they bet on Oz races instead, funny that......

I suspect that is not the TABs fault, more a aussie ruling, so if a Kiwi is on holiday and cant bet on NZ TAB does that seem fair ? So if aussie have closed borders and I suspect they may well have, why is it any different for NZ to do same. Personally I dont support the idea. No no no Mikey, far from it, it's NZ that invoked that rule, something to do with the take out, it was effecting the co-mingling, the fools in Petone invoked this, not the other way around....... Joe Bloggs
Between us Mikey, we can buy lotto tickets anywhere in the world.......except NZ!!! Last night the Italian lottery was worth 400 mil dollars.....not Lira........and we had tickets, but try and buy a ticket in the Kiwi version, good luck with that, something seriously wrong in Socialist Republic of Aotearoa........ So in australia can you bet on Bet365, the UK site or Betway or 10 bet, William Hill UK, Colossus football pools. When you go to Betfair, we get directed to the Australian site, used to bet on Betfaur UK.
mikeynz
Well in NZ as it stands we are free to bet on anything anywhere so where is the problem, it's weird you have to call to place a in play bet in oz, that's draconian. Absolutely we can, in fact there is a movement by the owners/shareholders in Sportsbet re the unfair tax on Oz owned companies in comparison to the UK/European owned gambling behemoths....... mikeynz
Hey if I was a bit more savvy with things technical I would post a news item on stuff news where Australian Legislation barred betting on NZ TAB from oz as they had to, or have to have a licence to operate, this was in 2014 check it out, google it,even if on holiday you are geoblocked, so it's not the NZ TAB who are wrong Having said that one wonders though as that is 2014, what have they done to get one or is the rigmarole not worth the hassle? mikeynz
Just to add, that's why you have Betfair Australia and ladbrokes and bet365 have aussie sites individually different from the uk versions.

It was because NZ demanded too big a take out of the commingling pool Mikey, so the Oz TABCORP told them to fuck off...... The legislation was a bit part, we can bet anywhere, NZ punters eg, ex pat Kiwi's that live here with old TAB accounts were shafted, dont going blaming AUS for that, it's a self inflicted injury..... It appears you can vote overseas on TAB nz if you are a NZ citizen living overseas or of course are on holiday, and of course have a account, some countrys geo block , aussie have, USA, Singapore, France appear to as well, I think France dont even have live betting I stand to be corrected, one of the theorys of partnering with a aussie operator would allow TAB NZ to operate out of ozzie, mergers are happening all the time, once there was William Hill, Crown and Sportsbet, now I think they are all one, interesting times.
