Good news , odd news .

So the good news is the Boxing Day races have been xfered from Awapuni to Otaki , great result for the CD , Otaki will match Awapuni for a raceday crowd , it's generally a family day and Otaki is a great family venue .

The odd news , because of TAB services purposes the meeting must have no more than 8 races , now i'm not a great mathematician but haven't the TAB just told us there will be a 8.5mil reduction in funding for the 2nd part of the season , well this is not going to help reverse the downward spiral in turnovers which drive funding .

WTF is does servicing purposes mean , come on in this day and age they need to do better than this .

I would assume as per normal NZTR have just taken this on the chin in stead of asking some serious questions about why they can't provide races for the CD owners and trainers if numbers are sufficient to run more than 8 races .

Peculiar to me. Don't see why moving to Otaki would make any difference to servicing requirements than if the meeting had been run at Otaki. On the other hand, I think 8 races is plenty for any raceday.

If they had a bumper day, would there be any reason not to keep boxing day there, might be a revelation, drag in a big Wellington crowd, change can be good.

Odd about the 8 races, should race to cater for all who want race, especially as its xmas

What's different for them covering 8 races over say 10 . I wonder if they don't want more than 8 because they have 11 on Friday and another meeting 9 days after Boxing day and trying to protect the track .

They came up with the same bullshit for the Riccarton meeting transferred to Ashburton. WTF someone needs to explain. would the original venues have had the same restrictions. I think not.

That was meant to say than if run at Awapuni.

I doubt the club would have any say about protecting the track. What difference would a few extra races make at this time of the year?

Spose if Otaki got lots of rain for Boxing day then that may create issues for New Year meeting, then the trots gets stuffed, what are the odds.

Marton Cup day on the 7th of January has been moved to Trentham , they are now racing 4 Saturday's in a row , tough ask .

Every track that goes down seems to take another one with it. Seems high risk for Trentham.
