Spirit Of St Louis

Gammalite

Recommended Posts

Should be re-named 'The Spirit Of Australasia' with a whole swag of many Oz and Nz owners (at least 20) , and the performances of a Great 'Star of the track'.

Qualified for the BIG one, the $1,000,000 Miracle Mile next week with a good win last night at Menangle.

Last year he was 2nd (also 2nd in Hunter Cup just prior) to his Superstar Stable-mate of the time 'KING of Swing' . Now retired after last years MM win.

Spirit will have strong competion next week from this years Hunter Cup winner (and winner of the other qualifier last night at Menangle) in 'Honolua Bay' who ran 1.49 last night.

But lets hope the plain Sweet Lou gelding Spirit can put away the Victorian next week and take out the 2023 MIRACLE MILE

and give a Heap of folk throughout Nz and Aus a thrill of the Biggest race Win there is.

Well the 'Spirit of St Louis' gets the Poll draw so should be right in the firing line for a Big Miracle Mile (all going well)

The Spirit Of Australasia only chance is a superb drive with a sit it cannot lead and win and should not even attempt to.mark Jones keeps producing these fabulous FFA horses that leave his care.her only chance is luck behind the leader.if Emma steward want to team drive they win race no worries as mach dan can set it up in the fight for the lead with the others following in the running line with captain ravishing doing all the donkey work.i only want them to do one thing and run it as hard as they can go and set it up for a record time.my pet hate is in Australasia they do not race properly on these mile tracks.as if in north America they would go 30+second quarter in a big race like The Spirit Of Australasia did.they are always making a challenge for the lead in that second quarter.watch me now is one of the best mares in north America with amazing dream beyond words is a donkey and that race was 400m more sorry champ sore point with me it cost me five figures and know I'm right but you do have the right to your opinion right or wrong.

Oh I see then . very sorry about your missed collect then Forbs. I am biased towards Amazing Dream (or any horse for that matter)  taking a sit on the leader . Gammalite did it on Popular Alm (a superior animal ) at Auckland in an Interdominion Final 1983 and it 'paid off' in spades.

As far as 'Amazing Dream' goes I saw her race twice in July 2021. Winning 2 x Group 1 's at Brisbane Albion Park, for Mark and then Blair Orange . TRAILING the Leader both times and paying  $19.win in the G1 Rising Sun and 2 weeks later $41. in the G1 Blacks A Fake QLD Championship. Did I say she trailed the Leader both times mate ???? I had big collects so personally I like nothing better than seeing Amazing Dream take a sit and then Mow em down !  good on her. what a beauty.

ALL Going Well , SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS (Australasia) will take a sit on leader and then Mow em down on Saturday night for a well deserved Miracle Mile Win  !!!!!!

Spirit of St Louis should get the run of the race. I think he is almost a certainty to run in the money and he will be at good odds if get on early. Honolulu Bay will look for the front and Mach Dan although drawn very wide will still have a go... what else can he do? Captain Ravishing will need luck. Maybe if the do a sub 1:48 pace it will be set up for a swooper from the back... go Captain Ravishing.

It's a great field and I am looking forward to the race. Once again, TAB no early market for the Miracle Mile. The fixed odds should be up now, hopeless. The Miracle Mile is one of Australiasia's premier harness racing. It is a hard race to win, and it's hard to get a start as a select field. It's a race that every trainer would love to win. It is shameful that such a heritage is disrespected by NZ Tab where harness is a distant third to gallop/dog/sport. Shameful.

Earlier on the card I'll stick with I Cast No Shadow, he's drawn poorly but extra distance will suit. The horse is honest and will be at good money again as Kiwis will back Krug, BD Joe

Hey he did go very well the other night . Closing late for 4th. was hoping he'd get some of it for you. Better for you and I if he got 3rd at least but them the breaks. Bound to go close this week with the mile and half distance.

might go for the 'Money Rocks' in the 1st race again too from the pole. solid stayer. Republican Party , and Cranbourne might be better over shorter trip.

He never goes a bad race Gamma. Grimson does such a great job with the horse. He's racing in G1 company most starts and ultra-consistent, generally first or second. Yes, he was unlucky the other night and he'll need luck again. but I have won plenty off him so stick with him. I also think he is the best horse in the race, only Krug on his best day has similar ability. BD Joe length or two down on I Cast No Shadow in my opinion.

Can Money Rocks win again for strike rate tipster Gamma....?

Republican Party a good horse maybe not quite as good as the Aussie top liners, good enough to win with a soft run?

I'm picking a new Australasian mile record mate! Record currently held by My Field Marshall, 1:46.9 set when winning the Miracle Mile in 2018 I think. Of course he was trained by respected ex-Kiwi Mr Timothy Butt.

Spirit of St Louis will be in the money, get on...

Honolulu Bay looks to go for the the lead it will be suicidal.he races best chasing.sprit of st Louis will have to do a power of work just to hold its spot and if it leads it has no chance as they won't be going any 30 second quarter in this.he might get the trail but it might not help with no sprint lane.mach dan your right only one way to drive it is to gun it from the start.breaview Kelly I'm guessing will go forward at the start.it Will be a battle of tactics with catch a wave captain ravishing Honolulu Bay all capable of running home well with a great trail.one of them three will win if they go record time.sprit of st Louis only chance is a slow run race.i doubt he will be in it if they go 147 or better

Here is what Emma steward just said on recent.

Honolua Bay is trying to become just the seventh pacer to win the huge Hunter Cup/Miracle Mile double, the most recent being King Of Swing, who did last year and in 2020.

"The Inter Dominion was the making of him," Stewart said.

"It could've gone either way, but it's strengthened him up and he's gone to another level.

"His Hunter Cup win was terrific and he couldn't have been more impressive last week (winning at Menangle). He won't get involved too much at the start this week because he goes so much better when he's not bustled out. He's got a great chance.

Thanks, I know you are a good judge mate so I respect your opinion. It's going to be a great race. You are right St Louis won't cop a 1:47 but he won't be the only one. There's only two or three in that field capable of something like that. That's what I'm saying if they go that pace it is set up for honolulu Bay or Captain Ravishing to come from off the pace, but you can't be too far off the pace, need to be two lengths behind at most...

Go Captain Ravishing...

Thank you kindly I'm even better on the France trots as Tabcorp bookies have zero idea wrong prices glamour.from what I gather now from watching box seat is catch a wave should want to lead as it's never been beaten in front and mach dan must must must fix this race for Emma's runners if it doesn't they are crazy certainly mark Purdon all stars would.team driving lol.mach dan must make it a crazy first half and that will set it up for her other runners.that will make sprit of st Louis in a world of hurt.im leaning your way as Emma said the captain is her fastest horse by far and that's a statement

She's a mediocre driver mate, I would be wary of ever backing her. Wait till they have the right driver then get on mate.

ANYTHING GOES - checked and broke near the 500m checking trailing runners and losing ground.
SOUTH SEAS ROCK - checked by a breaking runner near the 500m. Paced roughly near the 250m losing ground.
JIMMY JAMES MAGUIRE - checked by a breaking runner near the 500m.
RAKANOTTA - paced roughly and was out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Tomlinson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver S Tomlinson admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly near the 500m after shifting ground when insufficiently clear of ANYTHING GOES which was checked and broke with trailing runners also being checked. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Tomlinson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 5 March up to and including 11 March 2023 (3 days).your dead right and they got the wrong girl.we all should lodge official complaints with the Rui over incompetent stewards since they believe Devon on anything goes did nothing wrong by handing up at the 600 it beyond laughable and proves just how bad these stewards are.i will be lodging a complaint on Monday against these stewards as they have failed in there duty and it's not the first time with this girl unfazed comes to mind.is she a protected species.

yes. very late in the day to be trying to hand up the spot up outside leader when horse going well too, just 600m out.

wonder why didn't just leave Shree out there 3 wide?? very unusual and awkward. the Dalgety horse would of helped block/ or get in the road of any others coming from the back too. and Anything Goes was huge chance of winning.

rakanota 12/12 in betting forbs can you ask stewards why favourite would hand up to rank outsider that late in race (i didnt have bet in race ) also just as a side note Sarah not getting any drives for dalgetys this season obviously they think Carter can give the junior premiership a go this year I know Brodie thinks Carter walks on water but Sarah will just continue to drive all the battlers like the one in the last race last night and win premiership again.
