Ozzie harness drivers not scared to use the whip!!!

Watched a few harness races  tonight on Trackside!

What I noticed was that the Ozzie driver’s certainly have no qualms in using the  whip with gay abandon!

They clearly are not being dictated to by Harness Australia Officialdom!

HRNZ panicked when Australia Harness announced that they were going to be banning the whip and HRNZ then brought in a whip rule that was just so blatantly stupid that you couldnt use the whip any more than 10 times in the last 400metres or something like that!

This crazy rule was thrown out after a while and replaced with another unnecessary rule that catches out drivers still so it is still a poor rule that needs overturning!

HRNZ and its CEO at the time, wont mention his name, But initials are E.R. Brought in the crazy rule without any agreement with the horsemans association!

Animal Rights organisations had no problem with the harness rules at the time so why did  they need to change the rule that was working just fine????

High time HRNZ admit that they stuffed up and go back to what it was, as the Ozzies have given the BIRD to Harness Australia in regards to whip limitations after watching the racing over there tonight!

i think historicaly aussie drivers have always been more aggresive, never afraid to sit in the death seat and try and burn you off.

Same i spose when using the whip.

Yes you are correct, sitting parked seems to be a preferred position over there.

The current rule being employed by the stipes here is lunacy and just revenue making.

Talking about revenue making, one wonders if the new whip rule or the lack of whipping also stifles betting, lots of races run see horses not driven out, why bother if you don't get a good run for ya money.

We have the Stipes here calling into question a driver when they sit parked or try and challenge too hard for the lead or they get pinged for slowing the outside line up.  You can't win!
