    • With no evidence that Sport has scavenged anything from Racing.
    • How can it be a "blip" when it is UP not down.  Using your logic January 2025 was DOWN on Nov/Dec 2025.  Not every month is the same!  Your comparison is about as useful as comparing January with August!
    • Sports increase looks pretty stable. It has been running about + 50% YOY since last August.
    • No, but it is a more recent indication of how things are trending. The NZ and Overseas figure down 17 mil from Nov/Dec is a blip that can be accounted for by the Melbourne Cup
    • With the upcoming HISA vote set to determine the fate of Lasix in the U.S., the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association conducted a survey of its membership seeking input on how the expiration of the Lasix exemption, and the possibility of a complete ban on the drug on race day, could impact their operations and the industry at large. The results of the survey were published in the organization's 2026 Winter newsletter. Among the respondents, 123, or 80.9%, reported they would be likely to race less if a total ban on race day Lasix was enacted, while 20 (13.2%) said they would likely race the same amount, and 10 (6.6%) said they would race more. Asked to assess the past three years when Lasix was not permitted in 2-year-old races or in stakes races, 68 people (or 46.6% of respondents) said they had seen an increase in both the number and severity of bleeding episodes in 2-year-olds, while 39 (26.7%) said they had seen an increase in the number of bleeding episodes, but not the severity of the episodes, and that same number said they had seen minimal or no bleeding at all. There were 122 respondents (80.3%) who said they had kept horses out of stakes races in favor of being able to use Lasix in an allowance or overnight race. Seventy-two respondents (49.3%) reported the prohibition of Lasix in 2-year-old races meant a small number of their horses could not race at two or were sidelined until they turned three due to bleeding episodes, while 49 people (33.6%) said a significant number were sidelined, and 25 people (17.1%) said the ban had no impact on their horses' juvenile campaigns. Eighty-eight respondents (60.3%) said they felt the prohibition of Lasix in 2-year-old races impacted those horses' careers long-term, while 43 (29.5%) said it had no significant impact, and 15 (10.3%) said they felt the ban benefitted their careers.
