Shadwell has announced the fees for its five-strong roster of stallions, with the six-time Group 1 winner Baaeed standing for the reduced sum of £55,000 in 2026 – when he will be represented by his first two-year-old runners. “The roster is headed by Baaeed, the highest-rated racehorse in Europe for over a decade and who stands as a fitting tribute to Shadwell's dedication to the Thoroughbred,” read a statement from Shadwell. “Supported by many of the world's leading breeders, Baaeed has already covered three outstanding books of mares. His first yearlings were offered this year and included sales of €800,000 and 625,000gns etc., reaffirming his status as one of the most exciting stallion prospects of the modern era. At his fee of £55,000, Baaeed offers breeders the opportunity to be part of something truly special.” This season, Baaeed covered 165 mares at a fee of £65,000 at Beech House Stud in Newmarket, where he is joined by Mohaather and Mostahdaf. Mohaather will stand for £10,000 (from £15,000) next year, after first-crop son Big Mojo provided him with a breakthrough Group 1 success when winning September's Haydock Sprint Cup, while Mostahdaf's fee has been dropped to £9,000 (from £12,500) ahead of his first foals being sold in the coming weeks. At Derrinstown Stud In Ireland, Minzaal remains unchanged at €12,500, while Awtaad has had his fee increased slightly to €8,500 (from €7,500). “Minzaal's first yearlings were also offered this year and they generated some exceptional prices, including soaring up to 550,000gns and 450,000gns etc., at an average of almost 6-times his first-season fee,” the Shadwell statement said of the former Owen Burrows trainee. “Having captured the Group 1 Sprint Cup as a four-year-old and the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes as a juvenile, Minzaal combines speed, precocity and Group 1 consistency across three seasons. With all the boxes ticked for an Irish commercial stallion, Minzaal looks to follow in the footsteps of his sire Mehmas and grandsire Acclamation at his unchanged 2026 fee of €12,500.” It continued, “Awtaad has enjoyed a remarkable year. Ethical Diamond's track record breaking success in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf builds on the multiple Group 1 successes of Anmaat and Anisette. “His 2025 roll of honour also includes new stakes scorers Waterford, Naomi Lapaglia and Thalara, as well as two stakes performing two-year-olds and a Royal Ascot double. well you were very close Mikey. we had Carter and Grant right up the front controlling things and looking very good. but did cancel out. 5 and 6. With one hell of the BIG Looongg swoops by any horse to win a NZ Cup. for a whole lap lol. 👍 Kingman up outside them pouring it on down the back. I've been saying to the Galah for a while it is the stock standard Aussie open class way these days . they up the anti completely down the back straight (as GUS did in the Big trot today too) nearly always running the second last quarter faster than the last all the time these days. Leap To Fame perfected the technique. won nearly all his races like this. Luke Mc Carthy not missing a beat though. Won the Interdominion last year with DON HUGO with the same tactic , and was making sure KINGMAN was going to be right on the scene today in the NZ Cup at the last half. great effort to still get home first being 3 wide for a lap of Addington. a fabulous win by KINGMAN .top draw stuff. -

NZTR Welcomes Two New Directors to its Board New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) has today announced the appointment of Struan Abernethy and Louise Ward to its Board of Directors, bringing a wealth of governance, commercial and community experience to the organisation. The appointments were confirmed by the NZTR Members’ Council, which oversees the selection of NZTR Directors. Members’ Council Chair Jeff McCall said the decision reflects the Council’s commitment to strong governance and leadership within the sport. “The NZTR Members’ Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Struan Abernethy and Louise Ward to the NZTR Board,” said McCall. “Their combined governance expertise, business insight and personal connection to the sport will be a real asset to the organisation and the industry, helping ensure the long-term sustainability of Thoroughbred racing in New Zealand.” A Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, Struan Abernethy is a seasoned executive leader and governance professional with extensive experience across digital marketing, sport, and professional services. He currently serves as Board Chair of the Make-A-Wish Foundation NZ and has held senior leadership positions in both New Zealand and Australia, including as Global CEO of the Leading Edge Group. An active racing enthusiast and horse owner, Abernethy combines deep commercial experience with a genuine passion for the sport. Louise Ward brings a wealth of experience in property development, regeneration, and project management. She currently serves on the Tāmaki Regeneration Company Board, leading one of the country’s most significant community redevelopment programmes delivering more than 10,000 homes in partnership with iwi, Council, and Government. A lifelong equestrian and racing syndicate member, Ward offers a strong community perspective shaped by her work in major urban regeneration projects. NZTR Chair Russell Warwick said the appointments reflect NZTR’s focus on building strong leadership and bringing together a wide range of expertise to help guide the sport’s future. “Both Struan and Louise bring complementary skills and perspectives that will serve NZTR and the wider industry well,” Warwick said. “Struan’s background as a global executive and Board Chair, coupled with his experience leading digital and marketing-focused enterprises, adds considerable commercial insight. “Louise has proven leadership across major regeneration and property development projects, holding both Chair and Director roles. The Herald reports around 15000, what to believe? Irrespective of that for the size of Christchurch and factoring in the influx of visitors in town for Cup day in reality it's probably only a splash in the bucket, people wise, the A and P Show is a different case completely, having said that they are still doing better than Ellerslie for it's big days.
