    • With a thrilling final furlong move, NAKATOMI (g, 6, Firing Line–Applelicious, by Flatter) went from last to first to win the GII Stoll Keenon Ogden Pheonix at Keeneland, 'Win and You're In' race for the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint held next month at Del Mar. Last of the sextet behind a headstrong Skelly (Practical Joke) who missed the break but rocketed up to set the pace, the 8-5 favorite had plenty of work to do as he trailed the entire way around the far turn. The field began to close in on the pacesetter who tossed up the white flag at the eighth pole and Nakatomi swung wide to join the calvary charge of closers. A gutsy effort from 17-1 longshot Durante (Distorted Humor) kept things tight to the line but Nakatomi got up in time to secure the win under Irad Ortiz Jr while 4-year-old Whatchatalkinabout (Dialed In) filled out the trifecta. Lifetime Record: GISW, 24-7-4-7. O-Qatar Racing LLC and Hay, Mrs. Fitriani; B-Arnold Zetcher LLC & Crestwood Farm (KY); T-Wesley Ward. Sales History: $18,000 wlg '19 KEENOV, $25,000 ylg '20 FTKOCT, $205,000 4yo '23 FTKHRA.   The post Nakatomi Last To First In The Stoll Keenon Ogden Phoenix appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions. • It was a two-horse race almost right from the gate, but Intricate Spirit (Complexity) overtook the longtime leader late to stamp a ticket to the Breeders' Cup in the GIII Futurity Stakes at the Belmont Big A meet. While the top two were both quick into stride right from the bell, the eventual winner was taken back just off the pace along the rail, and Longshoreman (Twirling Candy) was allowed to sail through an opening quarter in :21.31 and four furlongs in :43.91. That duo quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the field as they swung through the far bend and were on even terms at the head of the lane. Laying it down in the final furlong, Intricate Spirit finally got the best of the pacesetter and slowly got away from the cavalry charge working its way up to Longshoreman to win by a clear margin. Attfield (Vekoma) got the best of that scramble for the minors to claim third. The final time in 1:07.98. Sales history: $185,000 Ylg '24 KEESEP. O-West Point Thoroughbreds, Madaket Stables LLC, Beitz, Kenneth G. and Beitz, Gail P; B-Ben Henley, Rebekah Henley & Jim Gray (KY); T-Miguel Clement.   The post Complexity’s Intricate Spirit Game to Claim ‘WAYI’ Futurity appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
