  1. Right so Kah can't win can she? If the horse is well ridden and wins its the horse that did it and anyone could have ridden it. If the horse gets skittled early and Kah recovers but the horse won't move out when she reins it to its Kahs fault. Just keep banging on and on being a knocker and don't back her ever again. Geez you must have a lot of time on your hands if you can sit their analysing all her rides. Actually you don't really do that do you? I gather your hobby is trying to knock down tall poppies.
  2. Watching Lord Module win the Allan Matson FFA in the Trainers stand. Also a lasting memory was being allowed to drive my Dads horse or maybe even McShane round the pre-parade ring, down the walkway to the birdcage and then drive the horse back to the stables after the race. I was so excited when told I could do it after gearing the horse up that I jumped in the sulky waiting for the horse to be unhooked and the reins handed to me. I was told in no uncertain terms to get out and do it myself the way I had been taught with the trainer saying - "who the bloody hell do you think you are? Maurice Holmes?!"
  3. We lived in Starveall Street. Had my 21st in the Brightwater Hall with entertainment provided by the Waikatu Variety Band. Only a stones throw from Waimea West where I used to help jog McShanes Road namesake McShane.
  4. Yep no doubt the homegrown Jockey star Jamie Kah was a huge inspiration to them.
  5. Very good point.
  6. Sorry @Thomass how was my radio/phone post Fake News?
  7. But on most measures they are not catching up. All Stars still have the better ROI and 7 months to go in the season. The Dunn stable has been starting 3 to 4 times more than AS for years with little change in average ROI or UDR. Has Lurch suddenly learnt how to drive or is Dexter on his way home now that INCA is well done and dusted?
  8. Didnt you read the Stewards report? Suggest you watch the race again she tried to move the horse out but it wouldn't move. As I said before you need to brush up on your race reading skills. As @Special Agent said you are very quiet on JMac's ride and the rides of a few top jocks who didn't actually get a win at Doomben yesterday. If you can't overcome your predetermined bias and eliminate emotion from your analysis then you are going to struggle on the punt. But that's OK ENTAIN loves you.
  9. Another annoying aspect of the App and the Website is you keep getting logged out. Is there a setting to change that?
  10. @Newmarket before you comment next time on Kah's rides can you make sure you watch the races first? Thanks in advance.
  11. I remember being at Uni at Lincoln in the early 80's and Dad having a horse racing at Timaru. He lived in Brightwater and couldn't get reception so I drove to my Uncles home in Christchurch as he had a phone AND radio. I then phoned Dad and he listened to the commentary on the phone.
  12. It's not the point Ranga. Prior to the "upgrade" you could see the place odds. What's the advantage to ENTAIN in not showing them? 90% of the time there is enough screen real estate to show them. I guess it is problematic in a 24 horse field but we haven't seen that since the 1968 Hororata Cup.
  13. Yes but your analysis doesn't stand up to the facts i.e. the stats! Which it is not surprising as it is based on anectdotal evidence. An average of 0.43 UDR over the life of the partnership is not too bad at all. Plus $4m in stakes!
  14. Excuse me how the hell is the Dunn stable "closing in"?! The Dunn's have had nearly 4 times the number of race starts and their UDR is substantially less than Mark and Nathan Purdon. The Dunn's return per start is $3,424. M&N Purdon: $9,952 i.e. 3 times the Dunn's! Seems the Purdon's are doing a lot less work for 3 times the return!!!
  15. She had no option but to move off the fence. Chain of Lightening wasn't going that well - never hit the front at any stage - had every chance. @Newmarket watches races through his wallet. 20240518DOOR08_V.mp4
  16. It was ladies’ day at Morphettville on Saturday, with female jockeys taking out each of the nine races. Kayla Crowther and Caitlin Jones kick-started proceedings, scoring respectively on Nicish ($3.70) and Jenkins ($6.80), both trained by Phillip Stokes. Jenkins was back and in danger of being held up in the straight, but Jones found a tiny gap to keep her mount’s momentum, taking the gelding from last to first for a great win. Alana Livesey scored aboard Sarah Rutten’s Easy Campese ($1.70) in the next event, before Rochelle Milnes rode a running double on a pair of Michael Hickmott runners, Storyteller ($3.70) and Exalted Fire ($5.20). Crowther produced a peach aboard the Clarken/O’Shea-trained Episodic ($8.10) to clinch her second win, while Livesey followed suit on Richard and Chantelle Jolly’s Keep Reading ($6.70) in the next. Maggie Collett took Oopy MacGillivray and Dan Clarken’s Hot Off ($8.50) from go to woah in the penultimate event, but the day’s best story came in the last race, as Felicity Atkinson broke her metropolitan duck with a last-gasp win on Chris Bieg’s Peacemaker ($21). Atkinson was ecstatic post-race, delighted to share her first city triumph on a horse who means a great deal to her. “It was great, it’s an unbelievable feeling. Peacemaker is one of my favourites, and I’ve had a lot of success on him,” she said. “It just makes it that little bit more special … Chris has been such a huge support all the way through. “I’ve been really unwell today, and he’s taken it easy on me just to make sure I’m right for today, and it’s all paid off.”
  17. Not wishing to side with @Brodie as I often tend to do but he has a very good point. Do we need to sit in front of the TV with our laptop and smart phone in hand to see the odds? Do we need to take the laptop to the Sports Pub that doesn't have the big screen odds on display? I assume that your laptop has a large enough viewport that ALL the odds are displayed? If it doesn't then you might notice that the Fixed Odds Win and Place are the first to disappear from the screen. In my opinion they haven't got the font type and size correct yet and the app especially pitches at a specific viewport that is beyond most of our phones unless of course you are the new Gen with a phablet (a phone near the size of a tablet).
  18. Bollocks! Re-read your own opening post and the next four. All stating or inferring that the All Stars aren't doing as well as they normally do. The stats don't actually support those inferences 5 months into the season.
  19. Of course @Newmarket you don't mention this win yesterday. Beautiful ride, horse jumped, fought a bit but Kah with those soft hands got it to settle, cuddled it up in a nice trail one out one back and went whoosh at the right time. 20240518DOOR05_V.mp4
  20. Seems Kahs favoured ride in race 4 had an excuse too. I won't bother posting the video because you obviously didn't notice the horse didn't travel early and struggled late. DENY KNOWLEDGE (IRE) – Laid out in the early stages. Jockey J. Kah reported that in her opinion DENY KNOWLEDGE (IRE) travelled well during the early and middle stages, however, was under pressure from the 600m and attributed the disappointing performance to today’s racing surface. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer M. Kent stated that he agreed with comments of Jockey J. Kah and would report back to Stewards on the condition of the mare in the coming days.
  21. Seems there was good reason for Acid Wash not getting a better position early. Kah and horse lucky not to hit turf. Perhaps a lesser rider might have fallen. I imagine Kah used her considerable skill to rebalance and settle the horse. Perhaps though the interference was the reason it lay in when she tried to improve in the straight. ACID WASH – Leaving the 1200m, clipped the heels of ABOUNDING and blundered. Jockey M. Harley the rider of ABOUNDING, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding pursuant to AR 131(a) in that in the vicinity of the 1200m, allowed his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ACID WASH, and as a result of this shift ACID WASH clipped heels and blundered. Jockey M. Harleys licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days commencing midnight the 19th of May 2024 and concluding midnight the 28th of May 2024. Held up for clear running from the 300m until approaching the 100m. Passing the 150m, was obliged to restrain off the heels of CHRYSAOR. Raced wide with cover for the majority.
  22. I just watched the race and I'm not sure you did. It was slow away and settled back 3 wide with cover. No chance of improving from there early as it would have had to go four or more wide to do so. Kah settled it beautifully which is one of her skills. When Kah went to move on straightening the horse kept laying in and wouldn't come out. The horse that won the race, Amur came from behind Acid Wash. So who wasn't reading the track very well other than yourself? Watch the replay. 20240518DOOR03_V.mp4
  23. Anecdotal evidence by its very definition is unreliable and often untrue. Frankly it's a more sophisticated term for gossip. Harness Racing is full of that gossip and most of it is malicious. As for the All Stars falling off their pedestal it hasn't happened yet. Their performance is still within their normal seasonal variance. Yes I'm saying early crow and wishful thinking by those who have often been their biggest critics. Time will tell if the Purdon dynasty continues.
  24. Trialled at Menangle this week. Ran 1:50 for the mile so not too far away from a come back.
  25. You don't because you believe they cheat yet have provided zero evidence that they do. Mind you given like @Newmarket you are a poor student of form analysis I guess you need fo clutch at straws.
