  1. That could be just a hard run or she was underdone or illness. She was always going to struggle against the top liners with her preferred style of racing.
  2. FFS @Newmarket they were the 2024-25 South Islands leading stable. Their strike rate in the South was better than their national average and a third of their stakes winnings were in the south. The South Island averages haven't varied much. Even though they have more horses and a permanent base there now. Confirmation bias. I wish people would do the research before making generalisations.
  3. "Running scared" of what exactly? A rabid vocal minority of anti-racing nutters who you won't change regardless of what is done.
  4. What would have entertained them? Free booze? Not allowed to do that. A Bouncy Castle? A band? Yeah Na all the old farts would complain. Lady Godiva as Clerk of the Course? What did they actually boring?
  5. Then you can't expect change.
  6. Well I daresay that they have a point to prove and the Hawkes Bay is hungry for a spring race meeting.
  7. Covid lockdowns was the final nail for many. I know a few club patrons that suddenly found they had a lot more money in their bank accounts by not going to the local. Some never returned and most of those who did have cut back consumption. LOL one I know saved enough to buy a new car!
  8. But there was no reason to slay the trainer and owner. The criticism on social media as is often the case was based on ignorance. Some were saying the horse could drop dead in a race and endanger others and other baseless scenarios etc. That fact is the majority of horses experience EIPH during high performance. It is the nature of the beast where the spleen releases under high pressure stored oxygenated blood as part of the flight/fight response which racing stimulates. It is extremely rare that EIPH leads to a fatality. The most common outcome is a degradation in high end performance and eventually retirement from racing. Obviously Pride of Jenni hasn't had her performance affected yet. Last night she defeated one of the best horses in Australia easily.
  9. Who is euthanisng the horses? What method is being used? Is the process supervised?
  10. I had doubts that when the pressure went on Alabama Lass wouldn't throw in the towel. It happened twice in NZ. Her wins here were good Sam Spratt rides - stack them up and sprint off the bend for home. Australian sprint racing is a completely different ball game. There is always something ready to attack. That said I didn't expect her to fold that badly and hope nothing is wrong.
  11. Who said Pride of Jenni should be retired? Idiots on another anti-racing channel.
  12. Are you serious? Just have a look at the rules for home kill beef!!!
  13. You are obviously not keeping up with what's happening. First question: are there rules around killing livestock and butchering it?
  14. I'm surprised MPI aren't on top of this.
  15. So how can anyone be MORE of an ARCH conspiracist than @Transparency aka Colin Wightman?
  16. That concerns me as well. One of my careers was in education and I had to deal with a Tutor that didn't have the qualifications they said they had. Academic fraud is normally treated harshly. If it isn't then everyone who has done the hard yards and spent real money on that education/training is discounted. FFS it takes just as long to be a fully qualified Vet as it does a GP! Just ask Leo Molloy.
  17. I think La Dorada is a good chance. Alabama Lass not convinced. My partner owns a share in a horse that bet her fair and square in NZ - twice. You can't lead all the way in a Grp 1 sprint race in OZ unless you are a champion.
  18. Yet surf and league clubs are still doing OK in OZ. As for "Workingmans Clubs" in NZ the members are either deceased and/or not working.
  19. Kerr was found guilty for other matters not the allegations that Nairn is making. In the process like a lot of conspiracists she is actually slurring the integrity of a number of connected individuals. You can laugh all you want but slander and defamation are still that regardless of any other misdemeanour! It is a bit like saying because I got a speeding ticket I must be guilty stealing cars. They were just that - rumours. However the difference between HRNZ and the Australian authorities is that they were making a general statement and not identifying any one individual unlike Nairn. That isn't defamation or slander just information that those in racing are aware of the rumours and are working to maintain racing integrity. The fact is they found no evidence other than rumour. Nairn alleges that Arcano was treated with Argon and that defames a number of individuals by association. If she honestly believed that her diagnosis was correct then she should have taken all steps with the horse in her care to prove it. She didn't. However she did profit from the Arcano being euthanised. She has found a niche market of the gullible while working in a macabre way. She should be called out for her fraud. At the very least it diminishes her chances a fraudently taking money off more gullible individuals.
  20. Well if she rejected the accuation that she was teaching then what the hell are the courses she is runing in the UK and Scotland? That STUDENTS are paying fairly hefty coin (NZD$1,200) to attend! According to the Equine-ed website they are getting CPD credits which I gather are the equivalent of NCEA points!!!!
  21. https://bitofayarn.com
  22. Doesn't any full time Trainer or Jockey? Or any other individual with a significant investment in NZ Thoroughbreds? That's not rose tinted its being a pragmatic realist. Pray tell what leads you to think I'm delusional? 90% of your posts are cynical snipes at the Te Akau business. You live in some delusional dream land that racing at some time in the past was this fantastic profit making venture. It has always been a tough competitive game. Those that have been successful have been really good at mitigating the risk by spreading their investment.
  23. My mates drink Speights. If they are stuck they'll drink a Pinot Gris or a full bodied red.
  24. That's your negative anti-NZ racing and anti-Te Akau coming through. If you took those envy green and dark moody lenses off and looked at it positively you'd say that Te Akau now have a stable business from which to form a solid permanent base in Victoria (they chose Victoria over NSW). A strategic decision that of course helps their business model and gives more opportunities for a return to their owners investment. Well they seem to have picked up already a few big fish owners over there.
  25. Not Wightman by any chance? He moans about everything. Anyway according to you doom and gloomers it is expensive everywhere. At least Hastings has a climate where you can train in the spring and good grass to agist on. Also you are only 2hrs from Awapuni and Taupo, 2.5 has from Foxton, 3 hrs to Otaki and 3.5 hrs to Matamata and Te Rapa. Even when the Hawkes Bay course was fully operational you had to travel. Not to mention that you live in a very nice region not too dissimilar to Canterbury.
