  1. How would you know there was "a bit of give" in the track? Have Ellerslie started to give full disclosure of how they measure the track rating?
  2. No posts have been changed. Given the hour that you posting it would appear it was a late night at the RSA on April Fools Day.
  3. Not sure what your post is about. Can I have the readers digest version?
  4. I've never given up. Not in my nature. Hence this site and me saying what I think.
  5. Who the F is going to take over? Seriously ENTAIN understand wagering and make good coin out of it. The disconnect is with the product that we expect them to sell!!!
  6. If you are serious about making a quid on punting then you wouldn't listen to any commentator.
  7. Yep that really really pisses me off. Trainers and Punters stuffed over. Then the upgrade is only ever one grade never what it should be. As for the time. WTF don't they fix the electronic timing at Trentham? 3rd world stuff. OZ the replays are up before the next and times and sectionals often as well. No wonder we need a monopoly why would OZZIES bet on our races.
  8. Avondale· ·Tim Lambert and RTA Jason Fulford and Adrian Dooley RIBare visiting Avondale to inspect the track on Friday 28 March. They will make a call on whether the track is fit to race on 9 April post this inspection. Further updates will be provided verbally in the meeting including alternate venue if required. RaceInfo Meetings Meeting News Ellerslie to now Race Wed 9 April MEETING NEWS Ellerslie to now Race Wed 9 April Ellerslie to now Race Wed 9 April The meeting previously scheduled for Avondale on Wednesday 9 April will now be an ATR meeting at Ellerslie.
  9. Is this an April 1 joke or serious? If it's serious we negative nellies have been banging on about this for a long time.
  10. In a way I kinda like this pragmatic approach. Well done.
  11. MEETING NEWS Friday 4 April Now Waverley Friday 4 April Now Waverley The Central meeting this Friday, 4 April will now be held at Waverley. The meeting was scheduled for Hawera, however some areas of the track have not recovered as well as hoped after recent racing. All nominations that were made for Hawera today have been transferred to Waverley with nominations open until 9am Tuesday morning. Any horse withdrawing prior to 10am will not be charged a nomination fee. It is hoped to run at Waverley again on 10 April however a final decision will be made after racing this Friday.
  12. That's an ordinary response but you haven't described what you find ordinary. In my opinion it must be hard to assess a horse when you are only bought out for a big meeting and even then not every big meeting. Unless you are regularly seeing these horses you can't really assess them.
  13. Did I say you couldn't criticise? I just said cut her some slack. Why does everyone get so precious about their opinions...? You've described her as "ordinary". What does that mean?
  14. Reminds me of my first thoroughbred winner at Otaki 23 years ago. Paid $36 to win first up. The trainer wasn't confident so I just put 10 each way on for my girlfriend - foolishly gave her the ticket before the race. Guess who paid for dinner?!
  15. Aiden Rodley tends to detract from the others.
  16. Well if you know so much of her background why ask "who is this woman"? That aside cut her some slack - I imagine like most trackside presenters she has landed the job and found that there is very little training nor support and the employment T's & C's are crap. I don't listen to her but then I have listened to very few of those on horse back with a microphone. Lizzie Jelf's was worth listening to - a sense of humour and an astute judge.
  17. My understanding is that the RIB take over control of the course on raceday. They are the rules enforcer AND in my opinion given their raceday authority the Quality Control for NZTR. For example they should be on course early to ensure all taceday protocols are being and have been met. For example verifying that the track rating as notified is accurate and supervise the horses that are required to gallop in the morning. It is a nonsense that a Soft 5 is declared by Club personnel, o checks are done and then retrospectively the track is upgraded to a Good 4 immediately after Race 1. What makes that worse is the RIB's reluctance and or incompetence to not upgrade again or accurately when it is clearly evident the tracks is firmer than a Good 4. Now that is one example but one that impacts trainers who don't want an ultra hard track and punters who are looking for an accurate assessment. The latter now wait until couple of races are run to work it out. No the RIB are the rules enforcer AND the independent quality control for racing. Time they stepped up instead of tuning up 30 minutes before the first in their Italian suits, walking 10 metres of the track and not even bothering to check that the electronic timing or the photo finish is working.
  18. Yeah I prefer Innes and Sweeny over "read from the racebook" Heveldt and "she's glowing in the coat" Leighton. But as you say each to their own. Both Innes and Sweeney know the form.
  19. Sorry same rules for all here. No censorship here, no childish name calling, robust intelligent debate on all racing issues and no deletion or editing of others posts. Above all no obsequious fawning to popular opiniom. You don't get that anywhere else but if it is what you like then enjoy that side. Thanks for the drive-by. Shame about Trentham - I used to enjoy going their 25 years ago.
  20. Nope wrong again. It wasn't a one off episode as you full well know. Easy to blame the track manager and nothing to do with the race day prep criteria. Although you are close to the oracle - how did Trentham get away with their race day prep and track rating smoke and mirrors? Name the horses that galloped on raceday morning? How did the track suddenly go from a Soft 5 to a Good 4 or apparently even harder than that given they broke the world 1200m record in Race 2?
  21. Why is it stupid? Or can't you explain why you said that?
  22. Well @curious I can honestly say I've never seen you abuse anyone or stoop to name calling. Even on issues that you are passionate about it is hard to make you angry. The issue appears to be an insecurity about looking silly when some point out the facts in a cogent manner. Easier to delete and name calling than struggle to reply in an intelligent way.
