  1. Network issue - SG Data Center

    Resolved
    Resolved

All customer services are now back online. Please contact us if you are still experiencing any issues.

The initial cause of this was a datacentre power failure during scheduled maintenance, causing a total loss of power to our equipment, but also our network providers' equipment. Apologies for the disruption caused.

I'm surprised @Pete Lane you haven't posted the offical communique from your vendor.

I'm just a moderator so you're referencing the wrong person.

Just to be clear, because I know you can so easily misconstrue things, I am not and never have been an owner of the site.

There we go ladies and gentlemen - that post is what you call a "toxic post".  You can imagine how things will be run elsewhere!  BTW Wightman and @Thomass are still welcome here but you have publicaly announced they are "not welcome on any forum I manage".

It was honest advice. I actually feel sorry for you.

About sums you up @Pete Lane.  You put the boot into Channel X when you got the pip and with Heslop joined here when I started BOAY.  You then got pissed off when I wouldn't ban the likes of @Thomass and @Transparency nor give you moderation access.  You and Hesi then team up and form your own site.  You got bored with that and then started to poke the borax here and back on Channel X.

I called you out on it and you got pissed off again posting numerous toxic posts.  You've now kissed and made up with @Comic Dog (I hope he took you for plenty) and are in partnership with him.  I guess @hesi is happy.

    So who is the joke?

Not you mate. You seriously need psychiatric help.

Bollocks.  Do you want me to list @Pete Lane 's posts for you?  Or even @nomates ?  Actually I might do the big reveal of Lanes behaviour when he spat the dummy here and set up the site with Hesi.  That was over him wanting to ban certain people because he didn't like them and I refused.  So if calling him a hypocrite is being toxic then yeah I'm into toxicity in spades!

Do you really think McKenzie has changed?  Bullshit.  Oh the irony of him getting a Bell Gully lawyer to send me a letter accusing me of the very things @Pete Lane had done and threatening legal action.  Oh doesn't the worm turn!!  @Pete Lane is nothing more than an unprincipled tart who when he doesn't get his own way goes to the next stable.  I'm about to publish all his stuff as well.

So quite frankly @SLB2.0 if you get really upset because someone disagrees with your analysis of a ride and you don't respond with evidence of what you allege and instead copy what you've hear elsewhere then perhaps you are better where there are no standards.

What an absolute joke you've become. Knock yourself out posting whatever you want, nobody reads this bloody site any more.

    Loser.

  6. Return to Racing in Hawke's Bay for Spring 2026

Sent on behalf of Hawke’s Bay Racing and New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing

This evening, trainers and members were updated on the return to racing strategy for Hastings, following the temporary closure of the track last September after a horse slipped on the second day of the Hawke’s Bay Spring Carnival.

Pending approval by the NZTR Board, we can confirm that work will progress on a partial re-cambering of the bends leaving the home straight (1600m & 1400m) of the Hastings racetrack.

Notwithstanding any unforeseen circumstances, this significant, expert-led investment will allow for a safe and confident return to racing in Hawke’s Bay for spring 2026. This work is essential to ensuring a sustainable future for racing in the region.

In parallel, further planning is underway to determine the long-term vision for racing in the wider Hawke’s Bay area. NZTR and Hawke’s Bay Racing expect to share more detailed updates with members and the public in July.

We would like to thank our East Coast racing clubs who continue to work together to shape a strong and sustainable future for the industry and the community.  We look forward to racing returning to the Hawke’s Bay Region.

It was originally designed to provide an easy repeatable method of determining the CBR (California Bearing Ratio) value of road material which is a measure of its strength.  Strength being a description of compaction.

The first version of the Clegg Hammer was developed by Dr. Baden Clegg in Australia and was named ‘The Clegg Impact Soil Tester’ (Figure 3). It was first introduced at the 8th Australian Road Research Conference in 1976 [6]. Since then, it has been widely used in Australia and Europe. It is currently manufactured in the United States (Table 1) and is being used by consultants and contractors in several compaction control applications and particularly in the compaction testing of sports fields.

The Clegg Hammer is similar to many other soil compaction measuring devices in that it does not provide direct readout of soil density or soil moisture values like the NDG. It monitors soil strength-stiffness after the application of impact force on the soil. However, the output of the device provides a measure of soil densification and it can be successfully used when it is calibrated to compaction efforts and moisture conditions for various soil types.

It does NOT directly measure sheer which is important for horse racing.

So in terms of the AWT's it measures the degree of compaction of the poly-fill.  If the track has been groomed correctly then this should be the same every meeting assuming that the moisture levels are the same.  In my opinion temperature during the 4 hours of a meeting wouldn't have much impact.

I can't be bothered reading all that waffle.

Obviously the fact that they call it a CIST is completely incorrect. Maybe you should inform them of their error - I'm sure they'd be delighted to hear from you.

I note that you didn't even know what one was in your reply to the OP as evidenced by your WTF exclamation.

Actually it is a soil compaction tester.  Not sure it has any value particularly if track has been prepared correctly on raceday morning.  I assume they do that.

Any correlation to temperature is probably related to the older style waxes used 15 years ago where they "melted" as temperatures rose during the day.  My understanding is that this "problem" has been addressed with better waxes and fibre/sand ratios.

Of course water was used on the older style tracks to adjust firmness and limit wax breakdown but I recall reading that these new AWT's are supposed to not need that.

From the Clegg Hammer website but obviously you know best.

The CLEGG HAMMER or Clegg Impact Soil Tester (CIST) is a falling weight deflectometer that measures the stiffness of soils or pavements to assist engineers to determine the ability of the pavement to support load.

Lane you had a go @curious on Channel X and responded really nasty.  Your only posts here are to stir and make personal attacks.  I think it is clear to everyone what your modus operandi (I have a Latin dictionary too) is.

You basically got pissed off here when you I wouldn't get ban @Thomass and a couple of other people.  Plus I did respond positively to your request to be a moderator.

Strange how you stir here then run over to the Comic Dog and post about it!

    Whatever you say mate.

Touchie, touchie.  You are the self proclaimed expert on these things I thought you'd have an opinion?  You are not short of expressing it elsewhere about here.  Or is that just your shit stirring obsequious natural behaviour?

Ok you want my opinion? I think you've had some sort of IT problem but you're too arrogant to admit it.

I'll ask you a question, Pete.

Why can't Chief Stipe disagree or criticise something, but Scooby can do the same and have no pushback? He typically gets no pushback because he deletes anyone who disagrees with him, and he takes any disagreement as a personal attack.

Nothing good has ever come from an echo chamber. And before you tell me I do the same with Chief Stipe, I don't even know his last name, I don't know him from a bar of soap, and we have disagreed on many things. But the difference between Scoobyshit and Chief Stipe is that Chief Stipe doesn't resort to personal attacks and lies, and manners maketh man is why I tend to enjoy the company of his type, not the lying, website forum-dictator class of Phillip Leigh McKenzie.

Nice words. You are clearly under his spell.

    Good luck.
