I agree with all the above. In today’s society, HRNZ/RIB should be mitigating all factors to provide a safe working environment, something that blatant should be severely penalised. Liken it to rugby where the head is sacred etc, etc, need to be some deterrent.
The thing is it was a deliberate act of Blair’s considering his vast experience.
I was surprised he was able to keep that race, P Wakelin’s horse would still be here if he hadn’t of changed ground so harshly. Apparently you can from now on, dangerous president.
$2.5k and suspension for MP for more than a wrist flicking action, was definitely coming from above shoulder height with a few. That’s called taking one for the team. Still think best horse won but would he if just being flicked?See Majestic Cruiser’s earplug cord broke so he’s gone real good as well.
Which brings up a far bigger issue.
Time to get rid of standing starts?
Except for the NZ Cup maybe? Even?
Victoria has, and to no detriment to them. In todays hustle and bustle, instant gratification society, I’d say yes. Fair start for everybody.
Never condemn a horse till it’s 6ft in the ground.
Credit where credit’s due, it put the odd rough one in up the straight as well when he went for it but who knows it any better than the owner trainer. Good on him 👍
Racing is all hindsight anyway, could’ve, should’ve, would’ve, sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t, that’s life. It’s what’s wrong with a lot of the PC brigade nowadays, want everything to be perfect and want to blame someone.
Might as well race in lanes all the way then. What bollocks.
Its called racing for a reason, accept the challenge or you don’t.
HRNZ don’t help themselves with pathetic decisions such as this. Least these two boys were having a go. Start looking back in the field for the ones that aren’t.
