  1. Is youtube NZ? Don't think that counts. Lots of betting operators advertise there.
  2. Definitely make less. Margin hovers around 12% but has been as low as 2% one year. Risky business.
  3. NZTR appreciates the goodwill of all clubs involved. The new schedule is: Friday 23 June now Wanganui JC at Wanganui (was Otaki-Maori RC) Wednesday 12 July now Canterbury JC at Riccarton Park (was Cambridge JC) Thursday 13 July now Cambridge JC at Cambridge (was Wanganui JC) Friday 14 July now Otaki-Maori RC at Otaki – Matariki (was Canterbury JC)
  4. I said the "primary immediate cause". The soil structure and condition issues causing the root problems have been there for quarter of a century.
  5. A lot of matted turf growth with long grass stems lying on the surface of the track was evident. Where it was very dense, this matted material would have slowed the rate of drying so that any excess of water present at the surface would not have dried at quickly as would normally be expected.... Further to this the CJC are reviewing their mowing schedule, turf grooming and equipment which may also have contributed to the turf issues. Aside from that they mowed the track properly with suitable equipment that day and it was deemed safe for racing on Monday.
  6. It was the primary cause of the immediate problem that caused the cup day abandonment
  7. Except that Fairy is obviously also 3 months behind the play.
  8. Why now post this report from early December last year?
  9. Sounds like a lot more of the constant fluff to me. Otherwise known as more bs. How long have they been saying this? Who would want their business? said it had “commenced a process in relation to a partnering arrangement” and was in discussions with “a range of international wagering operators”. However, he said that what that partnership arrangement looks like “has not been determined, and any decision will be made in the best interests of all stakeholders”. And who the hell is Tom Pullar-Strecker?
  10. I don't really understand why it needs to be tricky. It's not rocket science is it?

  12. OK. I didn't know they'd been involved prior the December 2021 Trentham abandonment when I thought NZTR decided they needed independent advice.
  13. Why do you say that? It seems to me they are the only ones that seem to know what they are talking about and doing albeit may be need some guidance from real horsepersons. Don't think much if any of their advice has been implemented has it?
  14. Agree. Bought a horse 2 or 3 years back after retirement and 8 years on the sideline in the hope of enjoying one more trip to Wairoa, Marlborough, the coast or similar even if I had to haul it there myself, but since then, all those circuits are buggered. My annual New Year trips to Ellerslie always taking new people to introduce to the game were long since buggered. Never had one good enough to race there or similar. Horse is still going around but after that, I'm out. This time forever.
  15. Definitely be ho hum if you don't have any and we wait to see if the Riccarton track is up to it for later this month or next month.
  16. All? How many in the last 3 months in Canterbury?
  17. Did Kumara have a gate fee? I see Wingatui (Waikouaiti) have a $10 charge for Saturday.
  18. Country clubs do that here too. Mostly well
  19. And most of those that do don't know what to do about it
  20. Pretty silly rule anyway. Current 2-4 sec rule much more sensible depending vehicle and driving conditions. Horses racing a bit of a different matter I'd say.
  21. Yes but that's just hearsay from one trainer. Someone in the club must have arranged that and know and be able to confirm that the policy was followed and what the outcome of that was surely? "A Club must arrange for a track gallop on the course on the morning of the race meeting to reconfirm the declared track rating"
  22. Reefton. I assume that a horse or preferably horses galloped on the track on race morning as per the prep guidelines. Did you see that? Who rode the gallop/s and what did they report? That must have been a key factor in the club/RIB confirming the track condition and allowing the meeting to commence?
  23. The other issue here I think is that they've completely reversed themselves. They determined the track to be safe. Sent out horses and riders as crash test dummies, then decided it wasn't safe based on no evidence that anyone has reported or seen. Essentially saying, we got it wrong. We've put horses and riders at unnecessary risk when it appears they actually got it right and didn't. Not a good look.
  24. Yeahh. Haven't watched that race for years but all the top chances with 2 mile form. Former Wellington and Melbourne Cup winner ran 5th. Genuinely run 3.23 on a slow track. No sign of any skirmishes or interference throughout. And not just balance from the riders but a great sense of timing and pace especially from the first few home. No hidings needed when horses were trying either. Don't think any of the place-getters turned their sticks over.
